Hi
I have a tomtom app running on my iphone 5s that is bluetoothed to my Mercedes C200, 2013 (facelift) model.
I also have the PocketGPSWorld app running in parallel.
The warnings on the GPS world app play thro my car speakers, the directions on the tomtom app don't, despite my having an 8hr long silent MP3 running on the iphone. Both of the apps are running at the same time.
I previously had this set up in my VW Passat, bluetoothed to the same phone via a Parrott Mki9000 and it worked faultlessly for ever and a day.
Can anyone tell me please why I am not hearing the tomtom directions thro' the car speakers? |

I'm guessing here... Maybe the PGPSW app has managed to use both the A2DP "HiFi audio" Bluetooth protocol AND the mobile phone audio one, but the TomTom app is only using one or the other (probably A2DP)... and the car audio is only listening to one of them?
I only say that because when I connect my smartphone to my car audio via BT it regularily only connects the phonecall audio and I have to go into the phones BT settings find A2DP and "turn it off and on again" _________________ "Settling in nicely" ;-) |

Thank you for your response, but sadly it went right over my head!
Since my original post, i've had the parrot kit installed in my wifes Merc C200 (2005) model and we have exactly the same scenario - the phones and the cameralert messages are playing via the speakers when we connect either my 5S or her 4S. so we have the same problem using the same parrot kit that worked perfectly in my Passat on 2 phones via both a parrot kit and Mercedes bluetooth telephony. It suggests a tomtom app issue I suspect |

Today we went for a drive to Lytham in my wifes car with the iphone 4s connected to the tomtom and before we set off back, I decided to have a play with the settings. I went in to the tom tom app to check thast the volume was turned up and it was. I had a play with the slider and got the voice via the speakers saying "you have reached your destination"
Since that point the app has worked perfectly and I now have the 4S working via the parrot absolutely faultlessly - phone, cameralert and tomtom all via the car speakers.
I tried to do the same with the 5S in the 2013 Merc but sadly the menu doesn't have the settings choiceds and it still won't work |

Is that a silent voice? Isn't that designed to exclude directional commands? Or is it something else. _________________ Tom Tom 1005 v2 World, Garmin Dakota 20, IPhone 4S |

It's silence so that the phone thinks music is playing and overides it with direction commands.
Since my last post I have discovered that on my iphone5s, the tomtom directional commands play thro the car speakers if the speedcams app is giving verbal warnings at the same time. It then resorts to its own speaker only (the phone) |

Another twist to this. As I have said in another post, the Tomtom app sometimess will play through the car speakers if directions come on at the same time as cameralert announces a warning, so it's something and nothing going on. A couple of days ago I drove home. From Nottingham to Manchester running both cameralert and tomtom. On that occasion, tomtom went via the car. Speakers for the entire 2 hour journey but it has since reverted to cameralert through the car speakers and tomtom through the phones speaker. It's all very mysterious! |

I finally made it work!
I set it up as an auxillary device and had a an 8 hour long silent MP3 running.
The tomtom voice fades out the silence and overides it with direction instructions
Voila! |
