|
|
Hi,
Can any member please advice me of the cigar lighter 'power cord / antenna' length on the nuvi 3598. Halfords won't open the sealed accessory boxes so I can check before I buy a Garmin SatNav. They've just lost a sale
For reference, are all nuvi model power cords of equal length.
Also do any Garmin satnavs have the traffic receiver inbuilt into the device rather than in the power cable itself.
I'm asking for the above because I have a large MPV with a very deep dashboard and the nearest cigar socket is located in the lower part of the centre seat arm rest console some distance away.
Cheers

As far as I'm aware all those with digital traffic have the receiver in the device itself. While I've never checked every power cord all those of the same designation would no doubt be the same. There are a few folks here with 3598s who should be able to measure it for you.
Amazon are cheaper than Halfords at the mo _________________ Where there's a will ... there's a way. |

Hi sussamb,
Thanks for your help, I'll await any feedback from the 3598 owners.
In the meantime I'm off to a large PC World -Curry's later today, let's see if they are more obliging than Halfords.
Yes I've just noticed Amazon are cheaper for sure, cheers.
Do Garmin do a 6 or 7" device with the same features as the 3598, I can't seem to find one?
Cheers,

I have a 3598, the power cord / cable is 4 feet 10 inches of flexible cable, the power plug is quite chunky being 4 inches long from tip to start of flexible cable.
The power lead has a cross section of 3/8ths by 3/16th oof an inch so quite substantial. It has quite a memory so takes quite a while to flatten out.
The radio /traffic bulge on the power cable is 6 inches from the mount bulge.
The traffic aerial lead is about 2 foot 7inches long and is plugged into the traffic bulge on the power cable.
Hope this helps. |

When did you buy your 3598? I thought the later models have the receiver built in? If not then it seems strange that the 25x8 range do have that but the 35x8 range still have an external receiver _________________ Where there's a will ... there's a way. |

Guess for some reason then the 35xx series need an external receiver, maybe not enough space internally as they're far slimmer than the 25xx range _________________ Where there's a will ... there's a way. |

Hi cwog,
Thanks for the power cord info, it's really helpful. The cable assembly sounds really bulky and unappealing to have on the dash. I'm out with my tape measure in a moment to see whether it will reach from my deep windscreen to the cigar socket.
I went to PC World-Curry's this afternoon and even they didn't stock the 3598, the salesman tried his damndest to sell me a different model ( bless him, he didn't succeed. I buy what I want
Cheers for your help,
John |

Hi again sussamb,
I've just looked on the Garmin website, I can see the Premium and Advanced models you mention. However I cannot seem to find the exact model number so I can compare their side by side specs against the nuvi 3598 as in this weblink.
Can you help with that one please?

Many thanks

Thanks sussamb
Much appreciated info, would dearly love a 6 or 7" Garmin with all the features of the 3598.
Anything in your knowledge base for such? Price is not an issue.
Cheers,

Well Garmin first released new models this year for the essential series, and recently the Advanced series, so an update to the Premium series should be next. _________________ Where there's a will ... there's a way. |

Hi sussamb,
Do I take it that the PREMIUM range may potentially move into the 6 or 7" screen size shortly? Or have I misinterpreted things
Cheers
