When NAV4 was announced in March I asked them about 3rd party POIs and they said they would be added at some point. No ETA though, and still none now.
With NAV 3 I think it took them 2-3 months to add it. It seems to be taking longer this time so I wouldn't buy one hoping that it will be added, I'd wait until they DO add it. |

As per usual TT cams are always missing in places so what I did was transfer the pgpsw cams, 17 poi files over from my 1005 using TTs own tool, to the 6000 and now they appear on my device as either a mobile or fixed or red light camera mixed in with TT own cams.
I need someone to confirm this. |

Navigating map nice. No jerking. Clear voice direction. Like the way you can navigate by touching map. I like to he large screen but small txt. A SHAME ABOUT OMITTITION OF PREVIOUS TT FEATURES. It hasnt simplified it. Infact it has dummed it down and cheapened it. Actualy saw it advertised now for £170 now and l thought l had a deal at £217. Seing comments l understand why. Because l couldnt avoid part of route l tapped waypoints that took me across country from Wellingborough to Desborough in Northants. Idid nothing but yry to take me to the A14 every waypoint l reached. It was set on avoid motorways so.l then reset it onto shortest route. IT STILL TRIED TO GET ME ONTO THE A14. NOW I KNOW THE ROUTE I TOOK AND NO WAY SHOULDBIT BE TAKING ME THAT WAY. It should have if l hadnt put the waypoints in to it. So you have to put way points in cus you cant avoid route. TT dont beleive we can think for our selves. ALSO NO CUSTOM POI SO YOU RELY ON THERES. In my area there are 4 hunhry horse pubs. It didnt pick any of them up. It only gave me some obscure ones tens of miles.away. THIRD PARTY POI IS ESSENTIAL NOT LEAST SO I CAN PUT THE SPEED CAMERASNIN FROM POCKETGPS because l can have the voices call out the individual speed for that camera in the format lnwant. TT SPEED CAMERAS ARE SO.INFERIA COMPARED TO POCKET GPS. In effect for me with this device it has rendered pocketgps unusable. NOW DONT YOU THINK THATS THERE INTENT FOR THERE LATEST DEVICES. For me in its current form 3 out of 10. It has potential for 10/10 but thats up to TT But they are drsgging there feet. |

It may be of interest - there is a review of 6000 on TheRegister and it had comments about missing features _________________ J. |

What's this? Everybody says you can't get third party POIs onto the 6000 (etc), but you HAVE managed to do so.

Can you please describe, step by step, how you did it? _________________ Dennis

Well we dont appear to have ever had a confirmation reply that a way had been found to use PGPS POI data on the new 6000. Pity, I nearly bought one but decided to wait when I found out I couldnt use the PGPS camera data on it.
I wont be buying it now, decided to stick with my 720 for the foreseeable future. |

Below is a quote from TomTom in November 2013 and as you can see nothing has happened to facilitate us including POI's of our choice. Clearly its not going to happen and as a result I wont be buying either the 6000 or any future device that restricts my ability to install POI's of my choice as I have been able to do on all my previous devices.

Why can't I upload my own, custom POI database?
With the new Quick Search we decided to make finding any address or POI, which comes with the product, as easy as possible. At the moment you cannot add your own POIs to this Quick Search. We are aware of the desire and need and also have other, strong reasons to start supporting this. |

The bit I have highlighted in bold makes me think that they are having technical issues with their own POI search that they have tried to hype. Maybe it is going to be too costly for them to keep it up to date? |

Well it's too late for them as I have had to renew my traffic sub for another year ... While postcodes are getting better I much prefer a poi which gets you to either the back or front of store ,rather than general area where in London can be very frustrating _________________ TomTom 5001 |

It's pretty poor (wanted to use stronger language there), I know my Go 950 Live will die at some point and so far they haven't come up with anything that is close in functionality and usability. I have my money sat waiting to buy a new device but so far it's a no brainer, I will just keep using my 950 and keep my fingers crossed that it lives a bit longer. |
