Just a couple of quick observations re. the A12.
I have both my old A10 and new A12 sitting side by side.
1. The screen sizes look identical to me....I wrongly thought Satmap were saying that it was larger, in fact,
2 The screen covers are identical in size and fit etc. Satmap; "The only Active 10 accessory that won't be compatible with the Active 12 will be our screen covers, due to the difference in screen sizes. " This is obviously incorrect.
If I knew how to post pictures to show, I would. |

Thanks for the interesting if surprising report FrequentFlyer.
So if the screen covers match the outer screen size must be the same. How about the display area? _________________ LostMike

I would say, ' exactly the same.' I'm looking at it now, and I'm struggling to spot the difference, (size wise.) To say that I am surprised is a bit of an understatement, I guess a call to Satmap themselves would not go amiss. |

The size thing is all a bit weird. As per previous posts the general consensus, my views included, was that the visible map screen is narrower but probably the same height. Viewed my Satmap in the shop against an A12 and the screen map screen looked narrower and had a noticeable black border at the sides, although everything else i.e case, screen covers etc. looked the same size. I'll stand by my previous comments - a completely botched launch/re-launch of the product and the Satmap site still shows the main product as the Satmap 10 and not the 12, although they are doing something with the site tomorrow. Words fail me. |

An update and the definitive answer !
"They are both technically 3.5” screens – so in one sense they are the same size – however, the actual viewing area of the HVGA screen is slightly narrower than that of the A10 – therefore the aperture and masking area on the A12 screen cover has been slightly adjusted to allow for this – and hence the covers for the A10 & A12 are indeed different in some subtle details, but they are both interchangeable.
There are double the number of pixels on the A12 HVGA screen compared to the A10 QVGA screen." |
