My trusty 60CSX is finally giving up the ghost after being dropped and getting a cracked screen.
Garmin want some daft money to fix it so I'm looking at a new model that will run OS maps.
Is it worth paying the extra for GLONASS enabled GPS 64 over the GPS62?
Apart from the GLONASS they look identical to me and the 62 has all the features that would do me.
Thanks for any advice |

Pretty much every Garmin handheld will run OS maps, and there are also some great free OSM maps around.
As for GLONASS, I have an Etrex 20 and have found it far more accurate than any other Garmin I've tried ... from tests I've done it's GLONASS that makes the difference. |

Thanks sussamb.
I suspected it would make a difference as my Galaxy S3 is very fast to get a signal and hold it although I have never had a signal problem with the 60CSX
Ill go for the 64 then I think. |

Went ahead and got a 64s, impressed with the performance but pretty cheesed off that the Discover maps can't be copied to a bigger memory card so that more maps can be added.
I've been onto Garmin about this and all they did was confirm what I already found out, it can't be done. I know they want to stop piracy but to do that on a unit costing costing so much is a bit thick.
However, there is around 3gb of memory on the unit itself so it is possible to load up a few more maps. |
