Have got iGo 8 on chinese head unit in car and PGPSW speedcam database. Works well except that the warnings come on way too soon. Is there a way to tell iGo to warn when a lot closer to the camera? My previous satnav (Route66) had a POI/Speedcam distance setting so you could set it to warn at user defined distances.

Yes, but you have to modify the warnings section (or add one) in your SYS.TXT as follows

[warning]
warn_distances="110:1200,100:800,80:500,50:300" ;("110:1000,80:800,60:500,40:300") speed:distance values in brakets are the default I think

speedcam_max_angle=45 ;(20) degrees?
speedcam_max_lookahead=1200 ;(1000) check for cams 1000 mtr ahead
speedcam_maxdistance_from_road=50 ;(50) ignore speedcams more than 50 meters from the road
Everything after the ; on any line is ignored. You can't set a different distance for different types of cam, so a long warning distance is an advantage

So that will warn at only 250meters for all cams then.
Personally, I think the this is a bit risky as mobiles gan 'get' you at much longer distances than this. But if that's what you are happy with, I'm glad that I could have helped you. Very Happy

Hi M8TJT Could you please help me to change the warning distance to cameras to 250 yds on my igo Primo 2. I have printed out the txt but I am unsure what text to change . I have cleared the speedcam file as detailed in the forum and loaded igo speed cameras from pwgps the uk and euro single file. If I could just reduce the warning distance to 250 yds I would be happy. hope you can help. Lofty

Give me a while and I'll have a look at Primo 2.1. I personally use iGO 8 as I 'know and love' it. I'll have a play with the syss.txt and come back to you unless anyone else chimes in first.
The possible problem will be with mobile cams as they can trap at anything up to 999m. But I think that you can set various distances for the different types of cam in Primo.

Make a backup of your sys.txt

Then you could try this
In the SYS.TXT
Find the bit that starts
[camera0] ;Fixed cam Gatso
and change the
maxdistance=500
to
maxdistance=250

Or look for the entries

speedcam_max_lookahead="200"
approach_beep_distances=200

and change the values and run at a cam to see what happens. But whatever you change, make a note of the original so that you can set it back. If you start a line with ; the line is ignored so what I do is copy the line I want to change, paste it in immediately below semicolon one of then and change the value in the other thus:

;approach_beep_distances=200
approach_beep_distances=300

The entry that says 200 is ignored.

If your 'local' cam is a Gatso then alter the settings in camera type 0(zero)
Unfortunately, iGO will not alert for speedcams when following a simulated route.

Type 0 = Gatso
Type 1 = Mobile
Type 2 = Redspeed
Type 3 = SPECS
Type 4 = Redlight

It's pretty much suck it and see, and try Googleing for Primo 2.1 Sys.txt.
