I have a igo primo navi installed in my car to replace the rear view mirror and recently found out that it can alert me on speed cameras etc. I try turning on the settings and driving in areas where I know speed cameras are present but I was not able or did not receive any alerts or signal of them being present. Is there a specific software I need to download and if so, where would I be able to find this software and installation process. Any help would be highly appreciated.

iGO Primo accepts our speed camera database with no problem and has the added advantage that the alerts are directiona.
You need to subscribe here then download the iGO database from here. Select the top option of 'Single file with all cameras'
1. Exit Primo
2. You then need to access the filing system of your device from a computer and list the contents of the memory. In the root of the device there will be a folder named 'Primo' (It might be slightly different, but it will be there. Within the Primo folder there will be another named 'CONTENT' and within that folder another called 'SPEEDCAM'.
3. Delete the contents of this folder (back them up if you prefer, just in case)
4. Unzip the downloaded file from PGPSW and copy the 'pocketgps_uk_sc.txt file into the SPEEDCAM folder.
5. If you want warnings about non verified mobile camera locations, also copy the pocketgps_uk_pmobile.txt file into SPEEDCAMS.
6.Restart Primo
Wait a while, it will 'hang' for 10 - 20 seconds whilst it compiles the cameras.
With an unmodified version of Primo, you must have a satellite lock before you get the option of switching on the camera warnings.
7. In the menus, choose 'More ~ Settings ~ Sound and Warnings' and check the 'Road Safety Camera Warning' checkbox. Scroll down to 'Proximity Alerts' and Tap on a camera icon and tap to select 'Warning Type'= 'Audio and Visual' and 'Audio Warning' to 'When approaching'. These instructions are for Primo Primo 1 (iGO8.5.1.155811). Other versions of Primo have a slightly different menu structure and it's 'Alert Points' that you will be looking for.

Hi

How could I add the voice warning with IGO Prime please? Also, how could I change the icons display to the Pocket GPS Icons which look quite good.

In iGO8 and early versions of primo, you needed to drastically change the GO code to get voice alerts. In later versions, voice alerts can be set uo in the SYS.TXT files. You need entries such as, for fixed cams:

[speedcam_category:0]
activated_spoken_type=speech
activated_speech="Caution, speed camera."

approach_beep_distances=500
approach_beep_spoken_type=speech
approach_beep_speech="speed camera."

overspeed_spoken_type=speech
overspeed_speech="Reduce your speed."
overspeed_min_speech_repeat_delay=7

It's too big a subject to cover here but there is loads of stuff about it elsewhere. Google "primo voice alerts".
What version number is your Primo, as I might be able to help you out with a SYS.TXT that gives voice warnings?

When you say iGO Prime, do you really mean iGO Primo?
Please use the Reply button at the bottom of the page rather than the quote button.
I'll do some research as to whether I have a suitable SYS.TXT later.

Damn. Forgot all about it. Sorry. I'll have a look tomorrow. In the mean time, if you could PM me a copy of your sys.txt, that would help.

Before you do anything make a complete backup of your device by copying all the files to your computer. Provided your TTS is working OK, the following should give you the spoken alerts.

{To alter the spoken text, change the stuff in quotes as in}

activated_speech="Warning, Average speed camera zone."

Copy these entries into your sys. txt

[navigation]

Unfortunately, iGO does not give camera alerts on a simulated route. If it did, it would make testing a lot easier.

I would say I will leave this as what it is and do not want to go any further!

Thank you for the input and afford!

No sense of adventure some folk. Mr. Green
But I can't say that I blame you. That sort of faffing around is not for the faint hearted. But that is the way to do it. Mine works OK.
