Hi Guys, I have my 2014 Europe maps on a micro SD card and everything is tickety boo.
Am trying to get rid of 2012 maps but can't find out where the Nuvi stores 'em
When I go to "Maps" INFO it has both 2012 and 2014 maps and both are checked.
Do I just run as is? _________________ VEGETARIAN

I would but ensure only one mapset is selected.
The 2012 map will probably be the original and will be in a hidden .system folder. While it's possible to delete it you can also cause problems should something go wrong
How though did you update your maps? What should happen is that the installed set of map files should be deleted prior to the new ones being installed. |

Thank you. My updated maps are on a micro SD card, which appears to work but the 2012 is, like you say, hidden on the Nuvi.
I have had a look in all the files that show up and none is anywhere big enough to hold the old maps. Guess that's what hidden means.
Thank you again.
The old systewm was to move the existing file onto your desktop just in case...... then replace it with the new maps.
Guess I'll just stick with the SD method _________________ VEGETARIAN

Still confused as to what you're using to install these maps, Garmin Express or MapUpdater? Are you downloading to your 1310 or to PC?

The maps are now on my PC and micro SD card.
TBH the job is done, the end point is to load them onto the SD card. I just wondered if they could be put on the Nuvi.
I think I am just trying to be too much of a clever dick.
Thank you. _________________ VEGETARIAN

Well they can ... that's where Express and MapUpdater would try to put them first, in which case your 2012 map would have been automatically deleted.
You could do it easily enough. Remove the sd card and run Express/MapUpdater again. |
