Today's rain has obviously kept the criminals at home....

....on my journey home from work, I was pulled over for the first time ever in all my years of driving - my crime?

My crime, apparently, was changing lanes across the zigzag lines of a pedestrian crossing.

Oh well, clearly ensuring that the gap was big enough is such a road safety issue when there wasn't even anybody at the crossing to miss my clear signalling and step out in front of me, on MY green light.

C'est la vie, n'est pas?

Changing lanes or overtaking? I know the latter isn't allowed, wasn't aware the former was also not allowed Wink

Changing lanes!!

Two lanes of almost stationary traffic - plus it's right next to a speed camera, so not much scope of overtaking.

She definitely told me that changing lanes is a road safety issue because somebody at the crossing might not see my signal and step out.

If I'd done something serious, I'd accept it - but did the "crime" of changing lanes really warrant being pulled over, DVLC checks and the time to fill out the paperwork?

Maybe she just wanted my particulars, looking at me eye to nipple after I stepped out of my car - but what a pathetic excuse for pulling someone over!

Well the law is quite clear. You can't overtake the car nearest to the crossing that's stopped to let pedestrians across and you can't overtake the moving car closest to the crossing ... so if you were given a ticket it's worth arguing your case.

No ticket - just aggravation.

It's dual carriageway in a 30 limit, complete with fixed camera and the crossing is controlled by lights

It must be about 50 years since I was pulled in - around midnight, just a routine stop to see if I had nicked the car. I was glad to see it happening - maybe somebody else might have been driving my car.

But nowadays, I'm out and about driving at all hours and never a sign of a stop. Rolling Eyes
