Could not turn off GPS on Moto G (+ how to update?)

Hi,

Just bought a Moto G and downloaded the Camera Alert for Android.

I had the message that it was out of date and "please update now". I could not see how to do this and presume it was because I had not yet paid for the database though I could not see how to do that either.

More of a puzzle was that after downloading, I was not able to switch my phone back to battery saver mode by turning off the GPS. Every time I did I had a message from Google to turn on tracking. I declined and the phone went back to GPS status.

I eventually agreed to the Google request and then the phone went back to battery saving mode when I selected it.

Anyone tell me why the above happened? I presume it is something I did ( or did not) do.

Hi Tafia14. I believe that you are entitled to one free download of the Database to bring your CamerAlert app on MotoG uptodate. You shall have to subscribe for any further downloads.

As to why Google was instant that you enable GPS, i'm not sure. I don't think it has happened to me as yet but, every time I download an app or log on to somewhere. something has changed and they want my phone number, my GPS location or my inside leg measurement. Best put it down to a Google-ism.
