|
|
Hi there - sorry if this is obvious but can any users of the Tomtom Go unit tell me if it shows your position at all times or only when you have set up a route? I am thinking about the POI detection of Safety Cameras. Will it warn you when you are driving around locally (i.e. not using route finding)?
Thanks... |

It will not warn you of cameras if you don't have a route planned. |

Thanks for your replies however the conflicting tales leaves me unsure as to the answer. Mr Rubbergloves - did you have to set it up in a special way or did it work out of the box? |

If you are talking about the speed cameras, then I downloaded them off this site, unzipped then installed them onto my TT Go via my computer. Turned on my TT Go, the touched the screen, then pressed CHANGE PREFERENCES, then the RIGHT ARROW, the MAINTAIN POI, then WARN WHEN NEAR POI, then selected the UK GATSO, I then set the distance, then selected the warning sound and finally I left the box unticked when I was asked "Warn only if POI is on route?". |

Yes, it will warn of cameras with or without a route planned. This is an option in the POI Detection config, to warn only on a programmed route or to warn at all times.
Apologies for the misinformation. _________________ Darren Griffin |

Got mine yesterday, updated and downloaded cameras in 10 minutes, and out for a test run. Worked an absolute dream. Just make sure you don't tick the warn on route box if you want to see the warnings without a planned route. |

You also need to be a bit wary relying on the warn on route option as some cameras may be recorded incorrectly, or be slightly off route, or recorded from the wrong side of a dual carriageway. None of these will produce a warning. _________________ Mike Barrett |
