Hi, I hope I have posted this in the right place.
I have been using the POI Editor software for a while but lately I cannot get google maps up and this message pops up, "Can not use the Google Maps service Please retry it for a moment". Does anyone else have the same problem and know how to fix it? Or can you suggest alternative software that work with maps.

Thanks for any help you can give me.
Best,
Pete

You could always try POIEdit - available from http://www.poiedit.com/downloads.htm. This is still working fine with Google Maps.

Thanks, I just got that working but Poi Editor for Tomtom was so much better because you could click on the map and add that position directly to your list. I hoped someone here might have a solution. Not sure if it's just me with the problem or google have altered the key it uses.

Best,

Hi Pete

It's not just you - I have been getting the exact same error message from POI Editor recently.

At least now I know that it's not a problem with my PC, so there's no point in wasting time trying to troubleshoot it.

Shame, as the map feature was really useful.

Quick update in case anybody else is having the same problem and finds this thread.

I am now using Tyre (http://www.tyretotravel.com/) which is free and provides the same functionality (and more).
