just been editing the phone book on the 740 and 750L
Contacts.txt..
the reason was that my wifes phone suddenly lost all her phone book numbers..
And we found that a we had them all backed up on the Tom Tom.
So go into her Tom-Tom and print out the text file phone numbers in the contacts file and she can enter them all in her phone again ---
good back up.. hadn't thought of it previously !!
While doing this I noticed that the original file had at the end of the contact names -- /W or /O or /M -- I have no idea what these were or are for they must have been entered automatically when you do a phone book update.
We spent all afternoon looking at the files and deleting what we thought we did not want... even experimenting with removing the /W /O /M at the end of the names -- to no ill effects..
OK what are they and how did they get there -- they are [probably] not needed?
Both are working OK
In the middle of all this we had a MAP down load !!!!

/W - Work
/O - Other
/M - Mobile
/H - Home
My Smartphone lists numbers in this manner and it seems to get transferred across on download |

If I remember correctly from when I last played with the phone book file, some (but not all) of those letter "flags" did produce different icons on the TomTom's screen for "work", "mobile" etc. when you were looking at the phone list.
But I just loaded up a phone book on a Go940 to do a screen shot, and it doesn't seem to be working any more.
Another "improvement" in recent software I suspect! _________________ "Settling in nicely" ;-) |

Thanks Mike... I've just not been finding as much time to do the job properly recently.
Trying to catch up rather then just dip in! _________________ "Settling in nicely" ;-) |
