I have noticed you have POIs for MFI and Kwik Save.
MFI closed their shops a while ago, and was Kwik Save taken over in most areas.
Is there any way to report redundant groups for potential removal
or monitor last date updated and investigate those over 2 years not updated |

Following on from the previous post, many POI are out of date and have not been added to or updated for long periods. |

In both cases it's mostly down to local knowledge and, with a community led database, it relies on the community for up-to-date information.
As to redundant categories, it is often easier to use the same location and simply update the 'ownership' from ABC to XYZ (easier to submit, and sometimes easier to administer).
All this can be done on the POI Submission Page. _________________ Richard

I know 'ABC' is a third of all taxi companies in the UK but what's 'XYZ'? Not heard of that business...

Among others, it's an 80's hard rock band. _________________ Richard

And that needs to be shouted from the rooftops!
PGPSW cannot act like Google.... there is no dedicated horde of researchers constantly touring the country updating the POI data.
If every member went to the trouble to update a few of the POIs in their local area, or even submit a new category file for something they are interested in, the database could improve dramatically. _________________ "Settling in nicely" ;-) |

Even Google don't do that. They rely on users correcting the data BUT they have subtle ways of getting the user to do it - like simply correcting the location on a business listing, or 'spying' on Google Navigation users and seeing where they go after searching for a specific location etc etc.
