|

I have just bought a Nuvi2340 as my 250 has given up because the internal power connector has worn.
I loaded all my custom POIs on to the 2340 but the icons will not show. They worked on the 250 and on the first occasion on the 2340 but now i just get a black dot. how do I get the icons to show?
Does anyone have an answer? |

I don't know the specific problem on the Garmin units, but there has been a similar issue on recent TomToms.
Older models were happy with 8-bit colour icons, but now they insist on 24-bit colour files.
Try opening your icons in any "paint" program (I think even MS Paint which is included in Windows will do) and resave them in 24-bit.
That might fix it.... _________________ "Settling in nicely" ;-) |

This happened on the 13xx and 14xx series after a software upgrade, Garmin CS say they are working on resolving it in the next upgrade. I suggest you register your problem with Garmin CS and hopefully they'll sort it on your model also |

I have been for a while trying to get my own customized icons to display and have said here that they were not doing so.
I have now found that if i zoom ALL THE WAY IN to 50feet scale they actually do display.
So am a little happier except thats not much help if you are doing even just 30mph.
How can i set the icons to display at a greater distance.
The POIs downloaded from this site for MacD's or Natwest etc. display easily but i cannot find where those files differ from mine.
Does anyone have the answer to this?
