|
|
Hi,
I have a new 2011 X-Trail Tekna with the Connect Premium HDD satnav system. I have been trying to install the PGPSW csv file as per the instructions in this forum, but the system doesn't seem to recognise the file on the USB memory stick.
There doesn't seem to be an option in the satnav menus for 'my POIs' either.
I think this is a completely new system compared to the older Nissan Connect and it appears that either the csv file format (or folder structure) is not compatible or the system doesn't allow the addition of extra POIs.
Has anyone managed to get this working?

My 4 doors down Neighbour has a Nissan Juke, is a subscriber and, these last few weeks, he's had trouble installing the database.
His mother in law (who is also my wife's friend) is in hospital at moment so it's not really a good time right now. I will however try to have a play with the system inn the near future.
None of the team here have seen, used, or have access to the Connect system and all guides are based on Nissan's own documentation... As such, when things stop working it can take some time... |

I'm happy to experiment if anyone has any suggestions. E.g. alternative formats to try etc.

OK - I'm getting a bit further. I have found you can Import/Export saved locations to a USB stick. On doing this I found 3 files created in a folder called \userdata.
The files are homelocation.hlc, storedlocation.slc and stsfile.
Searching on the web for these I found the Nissan LEAF forum which was discussing the format of these files. There is some information on this wiki...
http://www.leafic.com/wiki/index.php/Navigation_System#Example_POI_Data
Now, I'm still not sure if this is a way of getting speed camera data into the system - probably not, but it gives some hope.

Friend of a friend asked the Nissan 370 Product Manager for Europe about this - his response is that he is very keen to load personal POI's due to his travel all over Europe - but as far as he knows it is not possible - or at least certainly not possible via the USB port. The USB connection is apparently to the audio unit only.
He has not tried via a bluetooth connection - this he says can be accessed by the audio unit and the navigation unit - so I might try at the weekend to load my POIs to my blackberry and see what might be visible then
His views on creating a CD/DVD to go directly into the navigation unit were, predictably, that it would not be an approved thing as that drive is supposed to be Nissan technicians only.
Just a few thoughts

Well, he's wrong. The instructions we have are directly from Nissan! Although the have been some issues recently with some users unable to install them (which we're trying to figure out).

Your instructions from Nissan relate to the Connect System - the new system is called Premium Connect and the instructions for myPOIs/myPOIWarnings relate to the Connect System - not Premium Connect. |

After much shouting at Nissan UK about an update for the European maps for the premium connect HDD system - I received this
************************************************** ************************************************** *
Please be advised that we are currently unable to provide you with a date of when the new version of your satellite navigation will be released. I appreciate that you may find this response frustrating; however, on this occasion we are unable to meet your expectations.
I can confirm that, at this moment in time there is no provision to update the Premium Connect system and we will be unable to provide you with a date as to when a new version of the Connect system will be available.
In closing, I would like to thank you for taking the time to contact Nissan Customer Services and share your feedback with us, in order that we may understand and respond to your concerns.
Yours sincerely

After looking round at a dealer - the latest premium connects have maps
dated 2010-11 - but no update available. So if you want new maps - then buy a new car.
Wonderful!

In the same boat. The Nissan Premium Connect does not appear to have any easy way to include custom POIs.
My 2012-62 370z has Map Version: 10-11 MAP No.1, Program Version: X3E12022. It is comically out of date, so I still use TomTom on my phone.
I'm wondering if anyone knows who the original manufacturer of these units? Is it a Nissan designed thing, or have they packaged up some OEM thing and with some Nissan specific bits?
Happy to tweak if anyone has any suggestions. |

Just wondering if anyone knows the format of the DVD map updates - perhaps a replacement file could be introduced to include custom POI's rather that the very out of date standard one?
Tomtom is so much better and up to date!
