I see version 8.0 firmware is out now which has not helped my one (turned off while updating fuel costs).
New maps 2014 and a new voice file also. |

I got from Halfords a standard car power adapter rather than use the provided FM traffic one.
Since fitting this it has been perfect (I may regret saying that).
So indeed, perhaps the issue is with the FM Traffic module or the firmware update Garmin made at the same time the units started to play up.
Garmin adapter BTW was under £18.00 and cheaper than the third party ones they had.
Unrelated, I also see now when you enter a tunnel the map data switches the unit into night mode...

Glad yours has finally started behaving.
Since swapping to the GTM35 lead mine has been perfect.
The tunnel thing is cool isn't it! |

I've been having almost identical issues since doing a map and firmware update a few months ago. Before that no issues at all but now it powers off several times a day. Sometimes it takes three or four attempts to get it started up as it crashes while loading the maps.
Just installed update to 8.10 and the latest maps so will see how that goes.
If not I will try a new power lead. _________________ Colin

Sounds more like you need to do a hard reset. See the stickies if you don't know how to do that. |

Worked ok for a while but has now started it's usual tricks again. So I have taken your advice and carried out a hard reset as per http://support.garmin.com/support/searchSupport/case.faces?caseId=%7B80c3c390-85f1-11df-f376-000000000000%7D
I will post back on my success or not in a few days.

Does this mean that you no longer get traffic information? _________________ Colin

Hard reset didn't work either.
Usually happens when device is first switched on and more likely than not it then takes some 3 attempts to get it working.
I think I will just have to live with it. _________________ Colin

With the standard lead no traffic
However, since installing all the optional updates with Garmin WebUpdater it has been fine again.
