Maybe I should have been more precise.
When this happens SOME of the map squares are black. It can be one or two sometimes a few more but it passes within 30 sec maximum and the map display continues as if nothing has happened.
However I know from experience that from this point on I will get no warning messages but everything appears to be working normally. The CA App does not appear to have crashed or stopped.
It is only if I exit the App that I get the message "Unfortunately CameraAlert has stopped working". It does offer to send error info and 50% of the time I say yes but I am guessing that you have not seen these reports or they are not getting sent.

Did you get any of my reports from the trip?
The system crash as described at 9:32 and I send the first report at that point. It was sent as I joined J5 of the M4 with good phone coverage. I then headed down the M4 and M5 with the system failing around every 30 minutes. I sent 4 further crash reports before not bothering any more.
I will be doing the return trip on Friday so can try anything that may help pinpoint this problem.

Dave,
We've not had any crash reports from your registered email address. Can you let us know which address they will have been sent from on your phone? You can email me directly (MaFt AT pocketgpsworld.com) rather than posting it in the forum.

Having ditched my iPhone 4 because thanks to Apple it kept crashing and could no longer show the maps when using CamerAlert, it's disappointing to have the app crash with my new Samsung S4 - shows "Unfortunately CameraAlert has stopped working". It happens every 7 or 8 minutes and I have sent the crash logs but don't know if these have been sent via my registered email address - how do I find that out?
Going though this thread :-
It makes no difference if bluetooth is enabled or not.
The crash happens anytime and is not related to the presence of cameras.
Audio output is to Default.
Phone software is 4.2.2.
Network location is not ticked.
App cache and data cleared.
Latest database installed.
Next step an uninstall and reinstall maybe? _________________ Tony

Uninstalled and reinstalled CamerAlert. This time in phone main memory rather than SD card. No difference. Crashed 4 times in half an hour on roads where there were cameras and where there weren't any. Crash logs sent. _________________ Tony

CamerAlert still crashing on my Samsung S4 4.2.2 every 7 or 8 minutes. I don't drive much being retired but are you getting my crash logs? One sent about an hour ago? Driving from Aberdeen to Devon and back next week - any diagnostic checks you want me to do enroute? _________________ Tony

I've not seen any. Would they be coming from the same address you have registered here? (ends in '...ando.org')

It doesn't look like these have been received for some reason. Can you look and manually send the crash reports to us at support AT pocketgpsworld DOT com (ignore the auto-response!)
The crash logs should be in the external storage / sdcard at: android\data\com.pocketgpsworld\

Although the folder Android\data\com.pocketgpsworld.cameralert\files is there, no data is recorded. Maybe I've done something wrong when I thought I had sent the crash report.
Did a short trip last night with the map disabled and had no problem but I'd need to do a few more to be convinced.....
Edit - had a Samsung S4 firmware update notification today so did that and with maps enabled have just done a 40 minute trip with no crashes...touch wood...... _________________ Tony

Three crashes in 16 miles/30 minutes just now. Didn't send crash logs, got home with the intention of emailing the logs and there is nothing in folder Android\data\com.pocketgpsworld.cameralert\files. Getting really frustrated now - is this only happening to me? _________________ Tony

That's 620 miles over two days driving down to Cornwall and Cameralert has performed flawlessly!
There must be something in the air near Aberdeen that it doesn't like. _________________ Tony

I wonder if it's related to a signal drop out or something similar? Might be worth seeing if there's one particular 'area' that it crashes?!
