Hi Again All,
Haven't checked the thread for a few months - nice to see some recent activity!
At my last contact with Garmin, they offered to replace the unit although couldn't promise I wouldn't get a refurb.
I haven't yet returned the unit for replacement since I still cannot see how a hardware fault can cause an extremely specific yet intermittent fault with one particular command.
I have applied the last couple of updates from Garmin and I still have an intermittently working "Find Place" command.
Has anybody actually found a reliable fix for this?
It doesn't appear so from reading the thread. _________________ Robin

I noticed yesterday that I can no longer use voice command to find either an address or, more basically, even a town on my 2460. This feature worked flawlessly when I last used it prior to my last one or two map updates. Now when I try to use the command I get the response 'This feature is not available for country.' displayed on the screen and read out. I tried several different countries and got the same result for each of them. This seems to me to be a deliberate patch. The 'Find Address' was one of my favourite features and now it's apparently gone. Thank you very much, Garmin. I am now an unhappy user. _________________ Dabri.

Latest from Garmin "help" is to suggest I reload the maps. I will try but dont think that is the solution as I have done it twice already |

Whilst waiting for Garmin help to reply I had a look at other sites in America and Australia that have users with the same problem; some reported that reinstalling maps cured it. I have to report that reinstalling my maps using Garmin Express did not improve matters for me. Still no working Find Address, Town or Junction here either. _________________ Dabri.

I'm on software version 7.5, so I'll try updating it later and see if that has any effect. |
I don't use the voice commands, but I still get the same problem with random shutting down after entering a destination. It usually does it after I hit "Go", but yesterday, it worked OK for about 5 seconds after hitting "Go" and then immediately shut down. These problems seem to be worse straight after making changes, such as adding waypoints with BaseCamp or updating the maps. By the way, my unit is a 2595LMT. |
