A14 Camera

Not sure if I'm posting this in the right section, but here goes....

I do a regular drive down the A14 between Kettering and the M1/M6, and on the top of the A508 junction is a 50mph speed camera.

However, I get the 50 mph camera alert whilst approaching either way along the A14..

You can see what I mean better in the screen grab below:-

Is there anyway to fix this, as it's getting annoying.

I get the alert about the same spot as the 70mph camera's, but it flashes up the 50mph camera at the top of the overbridge on the A508!!

You need a device that accepts our directional data ;)

If you have either an iPhone or an Android device (with GPS capabilities) you can use the PocketGPSWorld CamerAlert software which uses the directional data. CamerAlert is also good for SPECS camera zones, I think that you have a lot of those in your area.

You can then switch off proximity alerts on your SatNav and use CamerAlert for warnings.

You *may* get some benefit on your TomTom if you set the alerts to 'Warn only when on route' as this will only alert you for cameras on the road you are on. However, if you do this you only get alerts when you have a route set, not just for driving around without navigating.

That's my default settings.
TBH, I never understood why some of the instructions suggested to NOT tick those 'Warn only when on route' boxes. DO many people drive around with no route set? I don't.

I always set a route. And I'm fed up at laughing about the TomTom directional warnings which in my opinion is another TT hype - they warn me all the time of cameras on the other side, even on dual carriageways! Fortunately the TT warnings are a quick polite anonymous little squeak for every camera type and speed, so it's just a laughing matter, not a screaming nuisance.
