I've now had my S50 charging from my PC for about 5 hours and the battery indicator light is still showing orange. Does anyone here have an idea of just how long charging should take, or should I just forget it and run my satnav from the car power supply ?

Around 2 hours - maybe the battery is faulty (and the Navman Mios have never had great staying power anyway)
I would recommend connection via the car charger
