I've been unable to post messages using the TWITTER app since 12June.
Anyone else experiencing problems with this?
Any suggested fixes? _________________ TT GO 1005 |

The old API was 'retired' on 11th June so my guess is TomTom are using the old, deprecated twitter code. It simply won't work until TomTom update it. Are you running the latest software? Twitter announced the deprecation of API v1 quite a long time ago, possibly even up to a year ago?!

How annoying! Have you tried Facebook? Maybe you'll just have to use it for navigation. What a PITA. _________________ Dennis

Here's the response from TomTom to my query........ They really are HOPELESS!!!
Please be informed that Twitter has upgraded their API from v1.0 to v1.1. That means as of today the Twitter functionality on Nav3 devices will no longer work.
However, this issue will get resolved in our future NavCore update. As of now we will not be able to quote the exact date this NavCore update will be released.
In order to be kept informed about this, please ensure that you have registered to receive the Newsletter via your account. Please click on Support My Profile and tick the options to receive the Newsletter.
Please accept our sincere apologies for any inconvenience this may cause to you.
Thank you once again for your valuable time and for giving me an opportunity to assist you.
With Kind Regards,
Marcello

It wasn't TT's fault that Twitter have changed their API. That is just the same as saying that PGPSW is "HOPELESS" because they haven't managed an instant fix for CA on the Apple Fanboy devices after Apple "changed the rules". But they have also explained what has happened and that they are trying to fix it. |

Twitter parallel ran v1.0 and V1.1 for 6 months. Details of this upgrade were posted in time for developers to respond. None of my other 3rd party Twitter apps have failed, just TomTom.
So to re-iterate, yes they are hopeless. What else do I want? Nothing, I just want something to work that I paid for. Too much to ask for these days it seems. _________________ TT GO 1005 |

To be fair to TT, that response seems reasonable - "somebody else's fault but we'll fix it". Unless, of course, they had advance details and were unable to deal with it in time. My only reservation would be that TT don't have a terrific reputation for fixing stuff. But what do I know? I don't even know what an API is (No, don't anybody tell me, I have a life to lead!). _________________ Dennis

The easy fix of course would be to remove the menu options to set it up, then they don't need to worry about any API. Am I right in thinking the new models don't do Twitter? If not, then I'd say they don't consider it any sort of priority. But on the other hand, if they are going to put it on the new one, then the new API will be supported and they can use that code. |

I bet it's not on the new models and TT say users don't use it (because it doesn't work any longer ).
Sort of "base over apex" response to lack of customer feedback!! Or something.
I'm guessing new model customers want to use their satnavs for this new-fangled navigation idea. _________________ Dennis

Point taken hijacker, but why the heck would anyone want to tweet on a sat nav. There are computers and smartphones etc. for that. Come to think of it, why would anyone want to tweet at all |
