Dear Pocket GPS World staff:
Can you confirm that this has, in fact, been caused by the move to the new Server; and if so, will you be mending it?
[I'm assuming that the URL the program references: (http://www.pocketgpsworld.com/modules.php?name=Cameras&op=DownloadPackage&idPackage=388), used to return the actual file (pgpsw-speed-cams-uk.zip), whereas now it returns a web page that contains a 'meta' redirect to the download page.]
(edit: Made the URL into an actual link)
Code: | meta http-equiv=refresh content=0;url=/temp/users/pgpsw-speed-cams-xyzzy-(14-034).zip |

Suspect is has something to do with PGPSW website transfer to new server. Hope they are going to continue with support for Ash's Camera Manager.
Hopefully just teething troubles... |
I think you're right - the 'zen' web site lookup failure might just be due to the fact that I've never upgraded from V3.0 of the program.
This is what I've done to get it working for now:
- Delete any existing pgpsw-speed-cams-uk.zip from Camera Manager's directory.
- Fire up Camera Manager - and right-click Tray Icon. Select TomTom - this will generate error messages, as before.
- Manually download the required file from: http://www.pocketgpsworld.com/modules.php?name=Cameras&op=DownloadPackage&idPackage=388. I believe this is classified as: "Other-CSV" | "UK-Single file for all Cameras", if you want to select it manually.
- When prompted, save it in Camera Manager's Directory as pgpsw-speed-cams-uk.zip
- Right-click Camera Manager Tray Icon and choose 'Garmin'. Hopefully, it should now burst into life...
I think those are the steps I followed... |
Great info.
If i click on the link I can get a usable zip file for camera manager to work, however, if i want to get the European cameras, the zip file wont work. I have tried to download the "other-csv file" and "EUR-Single file for all Cameras" but this doesnt work. No error messages come up in camera manager but it doesn't do anything with the zip file. No warnings are created.
Does anyone have a link to the camera manager compatible version for the Euro cameras (inc the French ones) or know how to download a correct version?.
Looking at the PGPSW download page, there is a camera manager 3 file available but this isnt shown on the drop down list on the download page. Why is this? |

I think the link you need is: http://pocketgpsworld.com/modules.php?name=Cameras&op=DownloadPackage&idPackage=389
to be saved as pgpsw-speed-cams-eur.zip
This file is described as: "CameraManager3, EUR-Single file with all cameras" |

Thanks, I tried that but it doesn't include the French cameras!. Very frustrating.
Why cant the Camera Manager 3 format be put on the drop down list. |

How did this use to work in Camera Manager? - I can't see any special options in there for France - only Europe. As as you point out, that file doesn't include France). |

As an interim i've added cameramanager3 to the dropdown selection so you can work with the files manually.
As already stated, this has nothing to do with the server move - the files have always downloaded correctly direct from the server, both old and new.
Th issue must be somewhere with CameraManager which is a 3rd party app that we won't/don't provide support for.

Given that CameraManager hasn't changed recently, and the server has , are you certain nothing's altered in the format of the web page?
Specifically, has that meta redirect always been there - I assume that is what's confusing CameraManager...
Code: | meta http-equiv=refresh content=0;url=/temp/users/pgpsw-speed-cams-xyzzy-(14-034).zip |
Is it the same version of the forum software? |

The problem, as I see it is that the files coming from the server now have a name like "pgpsw-speed-cams-ht49i-(11-062).zip" whereas they used to be called "pgpsw-speed-cams-uk.zip"
I used the following steps to get it into CameraManager ..
1) Manually downloaded
2) Copied the file to my working directory
3) Renamed it to "pgpsw-speed-cams-uk.zip"
4) Made it Read-Only (so CameraManager couldn't delete it)
5) Ran CameraManager to unpack the files.
6) Removed the R-O flag on the file _________________ ... Joe

But when Camera Manager requests the file, it actually gets back a full web page containing a meta redirect to the actual file. Any application (ie browser) that honours the meta tag won't display the page, but will issue another GET for the actual file.
It's as though Camera Manager:-
- Doesn't know how to do that (but it used to...)
- Didn't have to do it previously- but just received the file in a single step.
- The exact details of what it's trying to spot in the returned web page have changed.
Did nothing change in this area, as part of the server move?
(Obviously, just moving servers wouldn't have caused it ... but might something have been reconfigured in the actual forum software at the same time?) |

Nothing's been changed on our side of things.
