I used to find locations on Google Maps and send them to my Go, but now I just get a choice of Garmin, Insignia, or Navigon. does anyone know where send to TomTom has gone please? _________________ TT Go Essential |

Google and TomTom had a falling out some time ago and one result is the link to TomTom has now been removed, as you've noticed.
You can try www.routes.tomtom.com _________________ David |

Thank you. Shame we have to suffer for them, I've tried TomTom routes and Tyre but can't really come to grips with them. I had found a location on Google Maps using the satellite view but can't find it on a map. _________________ TT Go Essential |

Google Maps Help says... Quote: | If you want to get the coordinates of a location you see on Google Maps, just right-click the location then select What's here?. The coordinates will appear in the search box. |

I didn't know it either - just flipped a coin and tried the Help button and there it was. At the end of the day, it's really thanks to Calomax - but he's probably ugly, fat, toothless and a girl. _________________ Dennis

I've been creating Google map locations for some years now and using a GMAPtoGPX web link to rip the co-ordinates from the Google Map into a KML file. The KML file can open automatically in POI Edit program (on PC anyway) and then all the map locations from the map can be converted into a POI file that you copy onto your TomTom or Garmin etc (choose output format in POI Edit).
Works really well for me and I'm sharing customer site locations with others in our company so we can all benefit from having our site locations as POI's on nav units.
Look at http://www.elsewhere.org/journal/gmaptogpx/
For the GMAPtoGPX conversion bit.
Sound difficult but it works really well and pretty quick after a bit of practice. _________________ "A good scientist is a person with original ideas. A good engineer is a person who makes a design that works with as few original ideas as possible"

In GoogleMAps I use the LatLng marker tool. Next to DennisN's Help button it says "MapsLabs", click on this, select LatLng and save. By right clicking on the map you can then drop a marker with the Lat & Long, the values of which can be copied and pasted.
For me, the beauty of this is that you can have many markers on the map at any one time allowing you to plan a route and order the POIs to suit your journey. _________________ Garmin Nuvi 2599

I've been using that too AliOnHols, since long before I found out about the "What's here?" method.
As you say, it's great as you can add several markers at once. And you can also copy and paste the numbers from them too.
But do you find it annoying that the little "tail" on the speech bubble doesn't actually point ot the exact spot you clicked on? The numbers seem right for the actual spot, it's just the graphic thats a bit out. _________________ "Settling in nicely" ;-) |

If you zoom in on the marker, it gets closer and closer to the location you dropped it at but never quite actually gets there.
Off Topic --
Reminds me of my maths teacher and his pet spider explaining calculus to the class. The teacher placed his (imaginary) spider in the centre of the table, everyday the spider would walk half of the remaining distance to the edge. The spider would never, ever reach the edge of the table. In fact, we would all die sooner.
Don't know why but I have always remembered that. _________________ Garmin Nuvi 2599

Ah. But if you introduce an infinitive time scale, he will reach the edge |
