Just taken delivery of a new Mondeo Business Edition.
This has satnav as standard running from an SD card hidden behind the volume control Rolling Eyes
The dealer has left the card case in the car and it mentions TOMTOM on it so I'm wondering if it possible to add speedcams etc in the normal way.
Has anyone done this please?

Have you got an instruction manual for it?
Does it mention "user POIs" or "third-party POIs" at all?

Unbelievably Ford do not supply a manual for the satnav with the car.
Eventually managed to find one on the web but no mention of adding POIs
I'm now copying the SD to the PC before having a play with it
Hopefully there will be a POI folder somewhere.

Have a look through the various menus on the satnav, and see if there is an Information (or an About screen), that might indicate what it is. Also see if there is a set of Options to add/edit/delete POIs.

If it's like a TT then the POIs will go into the current Map Folder.

Well the SD card is obviously protected and won't copy.
It is possible to read the card but there is nothing there to indicate a POI folder and I'm not about to play with the card in case it corrupts it. New cards seem to be around £250 from Ford so I'll just carry on using Igo on my phone.

Don't wish to contradict you but it should be possible to copy a SD card, you just can't use the data/software that is locked to it on a different medium. Is it possible that the "slide lock" is in the wrong position for copying?

Also, have you selected "show hidden files" in your pc's file manager. If not, it may reveal a few extra folders/files where the POI's could be lurking.

Well this one won't copy. The slide lock doesn't stop copying, it only stops writing to the card mainly to prevent loss of data on the card.
I have tried to copy it on two different machines now with the same result, it says it is copying but after 10 hours I just stopped it. As I said, I don't want to mess the card up and end up having to buy a new one.

Do you know the original make of the satnav in the Mondeo? I believe that some Mondeos had a Denso system, which may be a version of a Becker unit.

If so, it would have been similar to the system in my Saab. That could be copied (it was a DVD then) but the info was in .kwi and .idx files. I found that someone had worked out how to make data for kwi files on a BMW, but it was very long winded. So I didn't bother.

There is an old discussion on "Talk Ford" and they didn't work it out either...

If it's anything like my car they will be sending you an e-mail in a year offering an updated map. This will probably be priced at the cost of a new Tomtom with a lifetime's subscription!!
