Protocol for new (roadwaorks) SPECS that are not yet active

There is a major road improvement scheme just beginning on the A453 from M1 J24 to the A52 in Nottingham. As part of this the HA are in the process of erecting SPECS cameras along the 8 mile route of the road.

I noticed yesterday that these cameras are now active in CameraAlert.

I have a couple of issues with this, firstly the cameras are not yet active (which is why I have held off adding them), and secondly the speeds are wrong for many of them. The set speeds vary some are 60 mph, some 40 mph others unknown. In reality it's still 60 apart from a 40 bit in Clifton at the Nottingham end and a 50 bit as you go past Ratcliffe-on-Soar power station.

Should they be in the DB at all yet, and if so do we record the current speed or do we assume when active that they will be 40 mph?

You have of course put in a correction for them on the submission map?

Not yet, I will do later, just wondering what the official policy would be.

I presume the eagerness to get them on the DB is to try and get a subscriber award before someone else adds them but I'm more interested in accuracy.

I have submitted speed corrections to the existing ones including the location where the DB has two in the same direction!

I have also added the missing mid-point cameras.

All that remains to been done is for admin to confirm if they should even be in the DB yet.

Thanks, at least now I know.

I'll have to go back and change the speed to unknown, though I did add a note to all the ones I changed stating that they were not yet active.

I submitted a request to the HA and the A453 SPECS cameras are going to be activated the last week of may subject to passing testing.

Looking at the current state of the road I see that pSPECS cameras are now in the database!
