I drove in both directions through the long average speed (50 mph) monitoring zone on M25 in the Clacket Lane Services Area over the weekend. I have an iPhone4 and it continued to warn me about the speed limit for the rest of the journey - about 30 miles.

Is there a setting I have to change, or is this a bug which needs a fix please?

Hmm... The start and end cameras are marked correctly in each direction so I'm not sure why the alerts haven't turned themselves off...

When did you last update the database?

Also, if it happens again, you can always turn off the average speed (and thus the alerts) by tapping the average speed on the main view.

Were you by any chance on the phone? It has been known to sort of stop registering whilst I'm on the phone so it doesn't notice an end of average speed zone marker. Personally I've reported that I think this is a bug, but I don't know if anyone else can replicate it.

I wasn't on the 'phone, so that does not appear to be the problem.

I last updated the database a day or two before I had the problem on the M25.

Noted that if I actually tap the average speed indicator on the main screen, it turns that feature off. Presumably it will re-enable itself next time I use the app?

Yes, the average speed warnings will start again when you pass another Specs cameras.

Another thought would be if you were having GPS problems at the time and the phone thought it was a bit away from the road when you passed the "end" camera. Were you getting silly high speeds?

As the cameras are in the database, give it another update and hopefully you'll be fine next time.

I wasn't seeing "silly" high speeds in the average speed zone, so assume that it wasn't a GPS problem.

Am probably going to be driving through the same stretch of M25 again this coming weekend, so fingers crossed..

I had exactly the same problem last Sunday on the M1 and on Tuesday on the M5 Bristol. On both occasions I had to turn the phone off (iPhone 4) and back on again to stop the reminder (short of chucking it out of the window!).

I had downloaded latest databases in both cases. Something is clearly not right!

Does not tapping the average speed readout dismiss it?

I have yet to try that but it's not the safest thing to do as I only rely on the audible features not the visual (it's ok, I'm not blind, don't panic), I just keep the phone in the centre console in a cup holder.

But you seem to have the time or opportunity to switch the phone off and back on again. Surely it would be less hastle to tap the av SPD readout Rolling Eyes

I can confirm that the specs cameras around Bristol, M4/M5 are all correctly positioned and do have End cameras at all ends.

Just thought I would add my tuppence worth.
Yesterday I was driving down the Southend Arterial (A127) and had the Camera Alert app running on an iPhone to see how the average speed report went. I was heading to Chelmsford so turned off to join the A130. The app continued to repeat "50" at me (the speed for the av speed camera zone) for some time until my wife turned the phone off out of annoyance. The map displayed where we were correctly but the app gave the wrong warning and (I think) the wrong speed limit.
I wondered whether this happened because the turn off to the A130 is before the end of the Average speed camera zone on the Arterial Road?
Didn't know about tapping the av speed icon so will try that next time. Any thoughts?

Hi qkjb

Normally, there is an "invisible" exit camera when you leave a specs zone but they appears to be missing at this junction. You can see them as dotted circles on the submission map on the website.

I'll point out the locations to the database admin (MaFt) as I've seen some more round there that need adding / amending as well.

Normal users don't see them. Only verifiers/mods.
