Hi,
I have a Discover Pro and think the addition of POI's is very similar to the RNS 510 I had in my previous VW. (Using POInspector)
This might help some:

I will buy the subscription but just want to clarify what I will get and what I must do.
I will get a file which contains .asc files for a variety of speed cam types?
I will also download images to match in poinspector?
and then create a .db3 file to import in my sat nav.
Anyone know the optimum size for the image files? The Discover Pro looks identical to RNS in display terms (and lots of others as well)
Thanks |

If it helps, that link you gave, seems to suggest that the "Nav Companion" conversion program can accept .asc . csv or .gpx formats for the POI/camera files, and that the icons end up as 32x32 but that Nav companion will scale other sizes to that size for you. _________________ "Settling in nicely" ;-) |

Hi Lozzer my new VW arrives next month - does the PGPSW database work with your Discover Pro, and if so which version have you downloaded?
Thanks. |

I used the method in the link in a previous post and loaded poi's to my discover pro. They were not speed cams
They were in asc format.
I have just subscribed to the database here but have not, as yet , redone my poi's to add the speed cams.
I do not anticipate any problems although the process is slower than I would have liked.
Quick update.
Added speed cams and the method works fine with the discover pro |

Thanks for the link and info! :-)
I don't suppose you've a MIB2 (post build week 22 2015) unit mate?
I've just got a new Golf and there's a worrying, if rather non-specific, reference on the link which says "Deviating is the function in the Gulf from production week 22/2015 available.".
I speak a bit of german, but even untranslated this is vague...
Surely I'm not the first with a MIB2 VAG Discover Pro to want to use POIs/Camera alerts?
Any help much appreciated!
Cheers,
Toby |
