I have installed the PGPS camera database on my Go 1005, but they are showing on the map as red squares, which I believe are TomTom's camera icons. Question is, how do I get rid of the TomTom icons? |

No, red squares are not the TT camera icons, they just mean you don't have any icon loaded for that POI type.
Looks like you have not uploaded the .bmp files for the PGPSW cameras. _________________ "Settling in nicely" ;-) |

I had downloaded the 44x44 bmp's and on checking the unit again it was showing the red squares on the map, but the correct icons in the top left of the screen. I added the smaller bmp's (22x22?) and everything is now OK. |

That's right, those 44x44 icons are ONLY used in the top left of the screen during a warning.
If you don't have them the smaller icons are scaled up to do that job, but it doesn't work the other way round.
On the newer TomTom models (Go1000/2000 VIA etc.) you CAN use 44x44 icons for POIs if you want, but the ones downloaded for the PGPSW cameras won't work unless you rename them, as they are currently called "pocketgps.....X2".bmp to show they are double-sized for the top-left corner display. _________________ "Settling in nicely" ;-) |

Thanks for the update, but what would I rename them? |

The same name as the corresponding OV2 File. Without the '_X2' bit. _________________ Richard

OK, I'll maybe try that at the weekend. Wife already complaining that TomTom gets more time and attention than her! Heh Heh! |

So just to summarise...
The PGPSW database download includes:
1. The "standard" sized icons (which are already called the same names as the camera data files.
2. The double-sized icons (with "X2" at the end of the file names)
Both will normally get used with no fiddling around - the standard icon gets used on the map and driving view, and the big one in the top left for warnings.
Rules:
1. You MUST always have a set of icons with the same names as the camera data files otherwise you get red squares. (that's where you were going wrong originally - they were missing for some reason).
2. On the newer "NAV3" TomToms like yours, *if you wish* you can use large icons to replace the standard ones completely. To do that, you rename them with the names that standard icons had. _________________ "Settling in nicely" ;-) |
