Remember not to mix countries. Apparently a rupi file cannot contain POIs for more than a single country.
So how do we import the European cameras? Aren't they just all countries bundled together? I assumed the import facility put them in the correct country. Anybody actually managed to do that in Sygic?
(Oops. Yes.Justrealised I've answered a question about speed cams with an answer about POIs)
Just tried it. Downloaded Swiss Caravan Club sites, converted and put into Import folder in Sygic (I already had the Switzerland map in Sygic). Opened Sygic and it imported them OK. Routed to Switzerland, Bern, POI and typed camp - it found 7.3842,46.96374,"S03 Camping Bern-Eymatt","" which is in the csv I had just downloaded. The rupi file that Sygic creates in its maps/che folder is dated today.
I use Goodsync, and run the Goodsync Server app on my Nexus. That allows me to connect and transfer files using WiFi and leave the Nexus on charge while it is transferring. I have found it better than using the usb connection. It also allows me to do full back ups of my Nexus.
I recommend the Dropbox sync facility in Sygic, which automatically backs up your important files and then allows you to share them between devices.

I know mentioned further in the thread about the format for sygic and that it would be hard to implement, but if poiplaza can produce the correct output for sygic then surely sygic must have released some information somewhere on what the format should be.
I'm not sure if poiplaza create the download format at time of download, but the files are downloaded in upi format

Sygic are pretty good at responding to suggestions, and constantly update the app. They've been testing a beta with drag and drop routing on Android, and just released it. Brilliant. I suggest you go on to the Sygic web site and submit your comments. They've got a suggestion section. _________________ Samsung Galaxy Note 9, Nexus 5, Galaxy tab S3. Just how does this drag and drop bit work?
Normal "Navigate to..." gives route. From the summary page you first reach, you can press on a point of the route, drag it to somewhere else and let go. SYgic routes using that as a via point. Or do that same drag and drop from the live navigation screen.

What is he to suggest?
I had meant that he could suggest to sygic that they could work with pgpsw (the best suppliers of up to date, accurate and community led POIs) to enable them to produce files in sygic native format, which would expose sygic to a wider audience (not sure what the pgpsw audience is but I am sure it is huge). BUT, I've found that Sygic recommend poiplaza, so they have perhaps given more help than they would to another app. or poi store like pgpsw. I've now made the suggestion myself on their open suggestions forum, having previously made it as a private support ticket . _________________ Samsung Galaxy Note 9, Nexus 5, Galaxy tab S3. M8TJT. Have you downloaded the latest Sygic version (with drag and drop) that came out yesterday (26 March) and does it work? The reason I ask is that I have held off updating because the feedback from many is that the latest download has broken their app. _________________ Peter

Yes I have and it seems to work OK. What is reputed to be broken?
Be aware that if you update any map, you loose ALL of the others unless you also d/l the latest version of those as well and that's a lot of d/l if you have W Eur

Most of the complaints in the Play store suggests that the app stopped working or that they could not open it or start it.
I am not sure that you need to update maps every time, although Sygic opens with that page. I generally skip that and then go back to it later, usually it will then show what maps need updating, and the updates are usually quite small. _________________ Peter

@peter. Seems stable enough to me, but I haven't done anything serious with it.
No, I know you don't NEED to update the maps. The point that I was making is that IF you update say GBR, you will loose IRE and the rest of W.EUR (if you have them). If however you copy them onto your computer once you have downloaded the latest (at about .5-1M/sec yawn), you can then copy/paste them back and fro with impunity, and onto a second device if you have one, but it appears that you cannot mix issues of maps. I have raised this point (amongst others) with Sygic, and await their response. The maps I downloaded were the full Monty, megabytes and megabytes. and that's not to mention the 120 odd MB 'resources' which overwrites all your carefully pruned folders with all the foreign voices etc. that take up more megabytes of your memory.
Also be aware that when you download any new map it leaves the old one on the device as well, thus gobbling up loads of memory (another of my raised points)

@peter The 13.1 update is not broken. There was a brief time when it was first available when it overlapped with the beta and had problems downloading the 126.92MiB (Sygic speak) of data required for the new version to work.
It never updated my maps.
Big download so wifi rather than mobile data!
When you open Sygic after downloading it appears to be broken, showing a black screen. BUT it is downloading in the background. When finished I found I had to click on the download notification from the notifications for it to trigger Sygic to process the download. On my nexus 7 this evening it seemed to stay. I had to go back to the play store and ask if to open Sygic again, even though it was open already. _________________ Samsung Galaxy Note 9, Nexus 5, Galaxy tab S3. @M8TJT. Are you sure about leaving the old maps on the unit? I have checked both Phone and Tablet and while it leaves the old folders for the maps both of mine report that those folders are empty.
@Fellwalker. Yes I am aware of the black screen. And when it has finished downloading the resources (not maps) it then sort of stalls, and the only way is to exit and then re-open, then it starts installing the resources it has just downloaded.
@Jate. I had the same problem with not connecting to the internet 20 minutes ago - it said I had no internet connection when I knew full well I was connected at full strength to my wifi router. Happened with both phone (on old version of Sygic) and tablet (with new version) so I do not think it was version specific. However both are now working fine.
By the way the new version is now asking me to update my maps, whereas the old version on the phone is not. I am going to leave it for a couple of days to see how things settle down before I download the new version to my phone - that is the one I can't do without! _________________ Peter

Yes it left the old maps on my Nexus 10. I had to remove them using es file explorer. It's just downloading another 126mb. I suppose I will have to do yet another cleanup. At least my maps survived and don't want to be updated. I wonder what this latest update is about following the last one so closely
And it's put all the sh1te back on that I spent quite a long time clearing out last night. Why can't they understand that I only want English voices and not download a load of other languages. Have they no respect for the limited memory on phones etc.?

There is an issue with the latest release - the beta was fine while I was testing it, then updated yesterday but then got another update today which messed it up.
If you are having problems you can try the following
copy sygic\maps\content.lic to sygic\android
then rename it to logcat.txt
when you next run sygic it will log to that file, if it crashes copy the logcat.txt and send it to sygic, if you attempt to re-run after crash it will overwrite information.
Mine starting crashing when performing a search for 'mull of galloway' as it was some distance away.
I then uninstalled the app because it kept doing this on searches for locations outside of my area, renamed the folder to sygicold and then re-downloaded the app from market and performed the install again.
Luckily 98% of my settings were still configured - I performed the same search which never crashed the app, so fingers crossed it keeps working, just better take my garmin with me in case when out over easter weekend
