It is downloading now for me, but the server is so slow, it has taken several hours on a 76Mb/s link. _________________ Drivelux |

Hmm again, on comparing the content of the before and after. Seems that the "Western_and_Central_Europe_2GB" folder is gone, and the "Europe" folder is new. The various POI and favourites are still there. "Europe West" is the map on the internal drive. Confused? I am! But it works, so I can move on... | I've had Western and Central Europe replaced by Europe. Anyone know if we're better or worse off? _________________ Jock

I'm now downloading "Europe" but I'm still not getting cameras, fuel etc but I am getting traffic (thankfully during yesterday's 'jumper' incident at Dartford), are the delays related or different do you know? _________________ Mike

EXACTLY the same map (there were various "clones" with slightly different titles for different devices) but they've now just released a single version for all similar application-running devices |

Just to confirm the above (and maybe add a little)
I have a Go940 which has always had it's map called "Western and Central Europe".
I also have a Go950, where it has always been called "Europe"
For the last few years, whenever I have updated the maps, 'Home' refers to the new map as "Europe" for both of them.
I know it is EXACTLY the same map which gets installed, because when I update the maps, Home only downloads the map ONCE from the TT servers. For the second device it just quickly downloads the different locking files.
But up to now it has always put the map into the existing "Western and Central Europe" folder on the Go940 and it's known by that name from then on.
This time was all different though.....
Home refused to install the v905 map onto the Go940 because of "lack of space".
I had to manually delete the Western and Central Europe folder to make room.
Quite cleverly though, Home surprised me by finding all my POIs from that folder from a backup on my PC and automatically added them to the new Europe" folder that it created on the device as it installed the new map.
But for some reason Home also regenerated a "Western and Central Europe" folder on there which ONLY contains the .bmp icon files from all my POIs.
As they have all been copied into the new Europe folder as well, I can safely delete it though. _________________ "Settling in nicely" ;-) |

On mine Home appeared to delete all the TomTom files in the Western Europe folder then rename it Europe leaving my files in it. Then it said it couldn't copy cline.dat as there was insufficient space. There was sufficient space but it had corrupted the file directory records which needed a "chkdsk /f" to fix.
It then went on to install the map on the next update my go after giving a partial install warning. Very messy. _________________ Drivelux |

I now believe I have now found a simple way of downloading a map zone, even when it is the Europe map that is offered.
Using Home I went through the usual 'list of updates' screen (selecting the Europe map), then I skipped the backup screen but when I got the 'free up space' screen (my no. 6 screen attached), I deselected all the items that it was wanting to remove from my device and clicked 'Continue' (previously I had allowed Home to remove items).
The next screen says that it cannot fit the Europe map on the device and offers a screen to select a map zone to download. I selected the Western Europe map, clicked continue and it is now downloading that map zone.
So the simple solution is - do not allow Home to remove items from your device and it will then offer the zone maps for selection and download. |
