I gather from Satmap that a new model is in development. It will have 'new components' and a 'higher resolution screen'. But the screen shape and overall size will be the same and existing SD map cards will still be usable.
I could get no suggested launch date. |

You must be very persuasive to get them to say this as it will probably kill sales of the current device!
I (and I am sure others) await further reports with interest. _________________ LostMike

I note in the Gear Guide in the latest Trail magazine there is a new model listed for 2013 - Satmap Active 12. States "Same as Active 10 but with improved hi-res screen, barometric altimeter, Bluetooth SmartReady for wireless data sharing. Dimensions same as old one and no picture supplied. Display is stated as HVGA colour 320x 480 (Active 10 QVGA colour 240 x 320) |

I hope they have done something about the Li-Pol battery connection.
Glad to see it is the same dimensions as the Active 10,at least the "old" cases will still fit.

I hope its waterproof (not 'slightly wet proof like the A10) and that the buttons are more robust. Sick of gluing mine back on. |

I would guess the Active12 will be released around May/June, in time for summer. Hoping all Active10 accessories will be compatible. |

was hoping that they would do something to improve the screen scratch resistance on screen covers, I know this is an accessory but it really annoys me, or improve the look of the unit if there is no cover |

FF
I am afraid I don't (want to) use FaceBook.
Please can you let me know what it says? I am interested in hearing about the rumoured new model.
Thanks

PLEASE VOTE IN THE POLL ON OUR FACEBOOK PAGE HERE: https://www.facebook.com/questions/365630676884682/
Hi folks, our new Active 12 is currently in development and we’d love to get your vote on 3 proposed button colour combinations. Please look at our posted photograph of button mock-ups and vote for your favourite colour combination (A, B or C) in the poll on our Facebook page here: https://www.facebook.com/questions/365630676884682/ Please do not vote below this photograph. We also ask that you don’t suggest any alternative colour combinations and just vote for one of the 3 as there is no scope to change from those proposed. Thank you in advance for taking the time to vote it is much appreciated, best wishes, Satmap
There are pictures but I don't know if I can post these, but the buttons options are
A: black side, orange front
B: orange side black front
C: all orange |

Interesting approach...
A lot of people do not like Facebook ... but many people who are interested in GPS and SatMap regularly check in and comment in this forum ..... and as far as I can see there is nothing on their own website, where again people might look if they were thinking about a SatMap.
Presumably the current staff at SatMap like Facebook.
I wonder what happened to the SatMap 11? ;-) _________________ LostMike
