|
|
My Rider 2 has just been replaced with a refurbished unit. On my original device I had advance warning of cameras given by voice (I use the Liz Whittaker one). Now, when Itry to set up an alert the device will only allow me to select from the sounds and there seems to be no option to choose a voice. Has something been removed from the application? The software revision is 7.901.

It sounds (no pun), as if the OGG files are missing from the Map Folder.
The Liz Whittaker voice files are available Here. _________________ Richard

WOW! I had not noticed that. Checking my Rider2, I think that you are correct.
My Rider2 is also on 7.901 but it's always been set to "Ding", "Moo" or "Boing". I'd never noticed that 7.901 doesn't give an option for custom warnings.
Can you remember which NavCore version your previous Rider2 was working with?
EDIT - I stand to be corrected by Oldboy's more realistic answer.
As I do not have the .ogg files loaded, it isn't offering them as an option, probably. _________________ Garmin Nuvi 2599

@ Richard. Thanks for that, I have now loaded the ogg files into the correct* map directory and now, when setting the poi warnings, am offered the option to select "this" sound. Unfortunately I cannot hear what "this" sound actually is although I have checked with one of my TT Go 500s and this too doesn't play the voice warning. However, when I tried a route demo on the 500 it did play the warning correctly. I won't be able to check the new Rider for a few days but will report back.
* I say correct because I originally had them in the UK map directory whereas the new device has the Western Europe maps!
@ AliOnHols. Sorry but I have no idea what my previous navcore version was but I hadn't updated it for a very long time - possibly over a year. _________________ Colin |

Older TT units, probably pre-2009, are 'stuck' on V7.9xx.
Not being able to hear the sound selected was a well documented 'feature', as was the 'don't press the NO button' scenario. _________________ Richard

Probably a good thing too. it gives one a fighting chance of resolving a problem without the goalposts being moved!

I had forgotten about this - I think it must be nearly 3 years since I played around with my original unit. And I re-discovered the NO button syndrome all by myself
All I need to do now is to try and remember how to get the Rider to talk to the Autocom unit on my bike. The autocom dongle is recognised by the Rider but it was clearly sulking when I tried it late last night. I think it was something to do with the order the two units were powered up.
