- Free (assuming you have phone and 3G service), with:
- Live traffic
- Optional Satellite view as you drive (inc zooming in)
- Constantly updated maps
- Streetview when you approach desination
- Announcements of street names
- Works nicely with playing music (which suspends playing only during an announcement and then resumes)
- Tightly linked with Google Maps on your desktop (Syncs POIs automatically) as My Places or My Maps |

If, however, you are running CamerAlert in the foreground, the buttons will show (once you are close enough to the mobile to actually see it), and they will work. There is no option to disable this function. |
Thanks for the update. I listen to music in background so it would be would be great at some point if there was an option to avoid the ping. |
Put the music in the foreground? _________________ Lutz

I've been using this version since release and it's been fine except for one bug which seems fairly reproducible.
I'm using a stock Nexus 4, Llama (like Tasker) to enable/disable car mode and CamerAlert starting and stopping based on Car Mode. I have a NFC tag in the car and Llama does 'stuff' when it sees the tag, like turns on bluetooth, turns off Wifi, sets car mode, etc. These changes are reversed when I leave the car.
CamerAlert frequently (not always) refuses to terminate if Car Mode is disabled when CamerAlert (non-map mode) is in the foreground. Never fails to terminate if it's in the background. Always starts ok. I've meant to mention this before but have taken to keeping CA in the background anyway.
Is this something you've seen before or can reproduce? |

Interesting. From looking at the code it should be the other way round. Exiting Car Mode is supposedly only acknowledged (and acted upon) when the main screen is in the foreground. Oh, the wonders of Android activity lifecycle... We'll test this area again. _________________ Lutz

Thanks. Hopefully you agree the desired behaviour is that it should exit regardless of if it's in foreground or background.
I wonder if, when it's foreground, the code you're looking at tries to make it exit a second time and it's getting confused?? |

While we look into that, could you try to tell Llama to use Car Dock Mode rather than Car Mode? _________________ Lutz

Unfortunately, it's not able to do that. |

I have tested your scenario and cannot reproduce the issue - so far the app seems to exit properly each time I leave car mode. Does anyone else see this issue? _________________ Lutz

If it makes any difference (race condition?) I'm disabling Bluetooth at the same time. The phone has an A2DP connection at the time, but CA isn't saying anything... |
