My iphone4s on ios 6 had to be sent back as it had an intermittent fault ( sometimes the speaker wouldn`t work).
A nice man brought me round a replacement and the phone was on ios5 and obviously I didn`t update.
I have put the speed cams back on but I don`t get spoken warnings. The .ogg files are there and visual warnings are ok.
Any thoughts as to where I am going wrong?
Thanks |

You need to make sure the TomTom app isn't running in the background then use DiskAid to transfer the mapsettings.cfg file from the download on page one of this thread to the correct folder as identified in the first post in this thread, note the folder location for the mapsettings.cfg file is different to where you drop the ogg, ov2 and icon files - Mike |

Whilst TomTom could rewrite their app to use a folder with public access for storing POI files they probably won't. The locking down of the file access isn't down to TomTom it was a decision taken by Apple when they released iOS6 so blame the hardware supplier in this instance - Mike |

I did nothing special. Just done the same as I always do. Copied the files across to the relevant folders.
I'll update to the latest version of TomTom and give it another try this evening.
Note.. This is done on a 3GS. Haven't tried it on my new 5 yet. _________________ iPhone 5, iOS 6.01 TomTom with speed cameras |

If you have any intention to revert back to your current version of the App make sure you back up your IPhone immediately before updating TomTom, I also copy the current app file from the iTunes folder on your PC. Also copy the mapsettings.cfg file just in case! |

It won't work on the iPhone 5 as that is running iOS6 with the locked down folder structure, if you read this before you try it might save you a few hours of frustration wondering why it doesn't work - Mike |

3GS with TT1.12 now has locked folders. TT1.11 certainly didn't have.
I'll have a play later and see if it's the iOS or the TT app thats locked down the folders. _________________ iPhone 5, iOS 6.01 TomTom with speed cameras |

Ive tried diskaid and it wont allow me to transfer files to iphone 4.
I can only change mapsettings file.
I won't be getting rid of my iphone any time soon though because of this, I also still like tom tom and I am really disappointed that I can now no longer use pocket GPS files.
Its only pocket gps that are going to lose out with this. If I was not a lifetime member I would no longer be subscribing. No use in subscribing if I cant use the database. Shame really. I just hope that disc aid can sort out a work around.
More money for tom tom though. Many people will just start to buy their rubbish camera database. _________________ Tom Tom One Series 30 with TMC

Yes you are quite correct. I have used Camera Alert in the past. Its good as a stand alone app if you are not using mapping software.
However if you are using mapping software such as tom tom then I want the POI pictures and the sounds on the map. So I can see where the POIs are in relation to me. I have the map on aerial view.
I really hope there will be a work around this issue without the need to jailbreak my phone, which I do not wish to do. _________________ Tom Tom One Series 30 with TMC
