|
|
I've recently replaced my TomTom with a Garmin 2595LMT and am struggling with updating & installing a new camera database & batch of POIs
I've downloaded and extracted to a micro sd card the POILoader version of the UK Consolidated by type with MP3 chimes.
I've put the SD card in to the Garmin but I'm not getting the message that the instructions say I should, i.e. "Copy data to device", either on my laptop or the Garmin itself.
Help muchly appreciated.
Thanks
Edit
Whoops - put that on hold please. I've just disconnected the Garmin from the computer & re-booted it. After loading maps etc I get an on-screen message which corresponds to the one above.
Time to suck it & see.
Thanks & apologies for the false alarm, |

It can be a bit daunting at times.
Once you think you have it sorted, put the Garmin into GPS simulation mode and plot a route that passes some cameras and your POI's to see if it's working.
No need to venture out _________________ DashCam:

I've just run a shortish test & I think it could be ok but I'm not too sure.
I get a "double bong" and a banner across the top of the screen warning me of the camera ahead & the relevant speed. I seem to recollect that this is a Garmin feature. I have their safety cameras turned off & Custom POIs on |

The 'bong' usually means that you haven't installed the WAV files in POILoader via the SOX.EXE file.
If you do you will get the proper spoken warnings, which are superb and saves you having to take your eyes off the road. _________________ DashCam:

Thanks. That explains another query I have - There were no audible warnings despite my having set it for .wav files.
I don't recollect having seen anything about "sox.exe", either when downloading the data base or on poi loader. Methinks another "go" is needed |

Do a search here on SOX because you'll need an old version of it and it has to be in the POILoader directory.
I did do a screendump of it's location a week or 2 back. _________________ DashCam:

I did pick up a copy of SOX from the forum and installed it along with a database reload, but I don't know how old it might be. When I ran a test run I still had the bongs (sounds like a severe African disease ) rather than the voice. I see that I had the MP3 version installed, rather than .wav so here goes again |

I've now re-run my test trip & it's working ok. The only "glitch" was a mobile camera site where the voice was not triggered but the bongs were, but I imagine that this could be due to the site being relatively new.
Thanks for your help & guidance. I would have still been disappearing up my own exhaust pipe without it. Much appreciated.
Regards

If your only getting bongs for mobile sites then look at the naming of the .wav file against the .csv and .bmp
I get verbal warnings for all _________________ DashCam:

The test route I did had just the one site with bongs & no verbal warning, but the other 2 did get get the verbal.
Do you mean check that the files on the Garmin correspond, e.g. all 3 exist for a particular site? |

Yes
For all *mobile30.csv you will/should have a *mobile30.bmp and a *mobile.wav
If you do have all matching sets then temporarily remove any other POI's in other associated folders as a test because it could be the mobiles are coming in last and have broken the Garmin folder limit causing an issue. _________________ DashCam:

Nope - you'd need *mobile30.wav ;)
