|
|
Luckily, TomTom have replaced my 1005 unit with The Camper version, which is working perfectly, i still have my 1005 and will be sending them it back as agreed, but this is what happens, even after 50 resets of factory settings and pressing button on top and holding it down (which TomTom tell you to do)
its like it cant keep up with the road! this happens on lots of A roads its also slow to re-route
http://youtu.be/4qtJUoTOKiI?hd=1
any ideas WHY it does this? (showing position as off-road by several metres in one direction)
MOD EDIT: To add the actual problem to the title and text _________________ Wayne Harris (Pro Musician)

When that happens, tap the screen and go to GPS status. How many sats are locked in and what signal strength? _________________ David |

Haven't watched the video but what vehicle are you driving? Could its construction / design block the signal?
Have you tried in a different vehicle? |

Dina Soar here. Not a Nav3 owner, though seriously considering it, but why is there no current TT Live model with just UK&RoI mapping?
Any way, this discussion reminds me of getting the One XL; version 6 software consistently lost the satellite signal, version 7 improved the lock, but still lost the signal regularly, and version 8 fixed it pretty much completely.
Could it be the software - the fact the 'camper' version works so well makes me think....? _________________ Mike R [aka Wyvern46]

I used to see this on older generations of TomToms, and it's beginning to be seen more often on NAV3 models such as the Go1000 and 1005
Can you describe when and how it happens a bit more please?
Is it happening ALL the time with the 1005 now?
Or does it happen at a particular time of day? Or on the same stretch of road?
Did the problem possibly begin after any updates, or connecting to MytomTom on the PC?
Does it ever improve as you drive, or does it stay like that constantly? _________________ "Settling in nicely" ;-) |

My 1005 works sometimes, happens from morning until night
Haven't noticed any differences after updating it
Though resetting it seems to help it for a couple of hours
Then it's back to as you can see on the video
Doesn't happen on motorways, only A and B roads, country lanes etc
It improves shortly after it loses it's way on the road, but not that quickly _________________ Wayne Harris (Pro Musician)

My Via 120 does this from time to time too. Very annoying and frustrasting No rhyme or reason as to when it does it, completely random.

Possibly then the 'Camper' version is the most reliable Live device? Just have to wait for them to appear in the outlet shop [edit] which appears to have vanished from the website! _________________ Mike R [aka Wyvern46]
