I would like to take my GPS System [on holiday] with me to France.
Is there any danger in going through the security check points at the Stanstead airport with the system?
Could it be corrupted in any way by going through the X-ray machines?
What is the best way to travel with it by air?
I will be taking the suction pad for the window and charger etc -
[We are hiring a car]

I'd say no danger at all. I took my old 910 to the USA, and it had both flash and little hard disk. No effects at all. |

What? And risk an internal finger search after the body scanner? _________________ David

I regularly take my TT through airport security with no ill effects. Admittedly it's not a TT Live, by my phone and iPad both go through too and the SIM cards work fine afterwards. I always have valuables in hand luggage so I can look after it rather than hoping it will be OK in hold luggage, and last time at Stansted I got pulled over as my Technet backup battery looked a little suspect, apparently due to its density. That went through about 3 times and is still OK.
One word of advice, there are a lot of places in France with the same name (seems ro me to have more instances than in the UK,) so always make sure you are going to where you want to go and not 200 miles in the wrong direction! |

For some reason I always set off the alarm thing - my artificial teeth are plastic and I haven't got a war wound full of shrapnel.
So as I go through, I make eye contact with the nearest female finger search person and head straight for her with my arms spread wide and a big smile. _________________ Dennis

My 540 Live has been through airport X-ray machines probably about 50 times, including twice this week - never caused a problem. Same goes for my laptop and various smart phones.
Make sure you take it in your hand-luggage. You don't want it going missing if they lose your check-in luggage. |

I have had thousands of pounds worth of radio test equipment through customs X-Ray without any effect. _________________ GO 620, Tomtom Android EU,
