Hi My old TT 720 has served me well, but the volume has always had to be set to maximum. Having bought a motorhome now,I find it impossible to hear the TT above the engine
What has prompted this question is,I used a friends Tom Tom & the volume was far louder than mine
on mine the sound using the volume adjustment bar, does not come on until the 50% position is reached.

has any one had this problem rectified or can make any suggestions or recommendations please Wink

Is your friend's device also a 720? Anyway, they can vary, so that's no help, is it? Have you got an FM radio in the van? The 720 can transmit to it - change the speaker preferences and select an empty FM frequency (not 100% successful as you drive around, somebody will use the one you choose, but I found 80Hz best). Set the radio to that frequency. The problem is you can't listen to your favourite radio programme at the same time.

Thanks for the reply, but I thought that you could only play through the car radio If you were using your TT to play music via its player/sd card, Then it would interrupt with voice directions???

One option is load a silent mp3 track to the TomTom then select that to play and repeat, this lets you use the FM Tx to play instructions over the radio without having music playing but it does prevent you from hearing the radio.

Another option (if you car supports A2DP Bluetooth) is to pair the TomTom to the car and select Bluetooth as the speaker option, this way (depending upon how the car handles the BT connection) will play the nav instructions via the car speakers and let you listen to the radio - Mike

I was hoping to find a mount that also contained an external speaker but it seems that even if I use an audio lead from the TT to another speaker the Unit will only transmit voice instructions if music is being played
your suggestion of using a silent mp3 file seems to be the only option
as my van radio does not have a aux in socket.

thank you all
