I've been walking the Isle of Wight Coastal Path this weekend, and to say it was muddy and wet under foot was an understatement. Coupled with that, I had a remarkable stroke of luck which I thought I would share with you.
On going to check my position, I went for my Active 10 to realise that it was not in my top pocket. After a short burst of panic I decided to turn around and go back, just hoping the a) I would find it and b) nobody would pick it up, maybe never to be seen again ! I could not believe my luck when after about half a mile, I saw it, hanging from a very small bit of overhanging greenery. I immediately decided that I must take a picture of this, as it could so easily have dropped into one of the many boot high mud and puddles as you can see. Somehow, while trying to negotiate the mud, the smallest of 'twigs' had caught the lanyard, and obviously whipped it out of my pocket completely unknown to me. Lesson learnt !

Very lucky indeed!
I either loop my lanyard from my GPS around my neck or run it through my belt, should I ever drop it or it gets caught like yours did it should at least stay attached to me |

It happened to me a few times when I first got it. now I have a small clip attached to the wrist strap which I attach to the case. Also stops it hitting the floor if it falls out _________________ Satmap A10. Platform 09.02.21, Software version 1.50 Satsync 1.50

That was good luck. The path looks terrible.
With that sort of luck have you purchased a lottery ticket, you might hit the jackpot.
I use a similar idea to Gibbo10. The clip has certainly saved me dropping it to the ground on more than occession. |

This is some thing I dread.............
In view of this I have stuck a sticky label on with my name and mobile contact details on it....
Thought of the situation where some body finds it....100 metres from where I am and has no idea who's it is and walks off in the other direction me (to hand into police)
That contact number could save hours ! ! !
Regards
Mike |
