Appraently the latest software is proving difficult to work on the older plug in units where the Memory is only 4Gb. It seems people are only successfully updating when they have the 8GB version.

Also they report that the TMC in the UK no longer works. In other European countries it does work, which suggests there is possibly a configuration issue for UK only.

Apparently Becker are aware and working on a solution. Advice is not to upgrade until Becker release further info.

Version 2.0.51 has been released to deal with some of the problems mentioned in the post above (which was version 2.0.49).

4GB original hardware is a problem, however this can be resolved by managing maps - don't install the ones you aren't going to use!

SD card slot still is not supported, so bunging a card in there won't help.

Most of the faults have gone - she only seems to say 'therefore' on motorway exits now.

Postcode search has now become crap though - welcome to 1998 and 5-digit search. 7 digit is still possible, but is a right faff!

Becker have released "Dangerous Spots Europe", which I hope is their safety camera POI database and not what sounds like - Anthrax! It's a 2MB file covering, they say, all fixed camera sites across Europe. There is no mention of this being a subscription service, so I get the impression their business model is one of "sell and forget". Either way I am hoping this now opens the door for the clever people at PGPSW to add the Map Pilot to their service.

Final point - to endorse Iain's post about v 2.0.51 and that TMC will never work on v2.0.49

As experienced by others, on upgrading to v 2.0.51 the TMC started to work again and the language defaulted to Portuguese. Some of the speed limits set are already wrong, but so far it has all the local fixed speed cameras accurately logged.

I have a Garmin nuLink 2390 which was well under half the price and is three times as competent.

But I really do not want the nice new interior of my Mercedes cluttered with wires and offering an invitation to thieves. Come on Becker, it's not rocket science, go and buy yourselves a few of your competitors' products, benchmark yourselves against them and then get to work on providing something which if fit for purpose!

So how can we get the database uploaded on the Becker MapPilot? There must be a way. What info do we need to provide?
