First and only SatNav was/is a Garmin 310.
It needs replacing.
I've been out of the market for so long I've not a got a clue where to start.
I want a decent screen, the ability to plan routes on a Mac and transfer to the unit, and of course, lane info (which I guess is now standard..?), and free map updates would be good
Any ideas as to what to go for? I'm assuming Tom Tom or Garmin.
My car is not Bluetooth enabled so having directions come through the car's hi-fi isn't an option. Having it as a speakerphone is, but from Garmin 310 experience the likelihood of this actually being usable is low. Or perhaps not?
Thoughts, ideas, advice?
All gratefully received.
Thanking you muchly.

No TomTom unit currently on sale in the UK (except refurbished older models) can load a route created on a PC or Mac.
Stupid, isn't it! _________________ "Settling in nicely" ;-) |

Crikey, that is bonkers. And it cuts down the list to Garmin.
I've just had a quick look at their units, but am a bit confused by their approach to live data. I like the idea of Garmin's live services, but I don't have (and won't have) an Android phone. We're an iPhone family.
Are Garmin's LIVE services really out of reach to those who use such a popular phone platform? |
