Also limited to one update per device per day?

Would it be a good idea to put this out in a poll, or bring to the wider audience for some feedback?
The reason I ask, is everyone apart from the Op and me is either staff, mod or verifier.
There's no comment from anyone else - at the moment.

PS

Not that there's anything wrong with being staff, mod or verifier Smile

I was keeping quiet as I have no opinion on it. I update as and when required and don't miss any auto update feature.

Errr ..... ahmmmm. I am not staff mod or verifier. And I have already said I would like it.

I don't see the need for a poll really. If you just put it in and make it user adjustable, for time and maybe connection type (wifi only?), then those that don't want it don't have to use it. I guess the vast majority will use it.

Yep, sorry Peter, it was quite late - 1.30am when I wrote that and I missed reading your tag.

This is my number 1 request for this app and is the reason I have given it 4 stars rather than 5 on the Android market .

I can understand that if the database is constantly updating then every time I open the app it will download a lot of information it all ready has which will put strain on your servers and our data use age.

But until you manage to sort out the updates for new cameras only I would appreciate an option for an auto check / update when the app is opened once every 24 hours

With the numberous additions, deletions and changes each week, downloading a complete database is probably the best way. It's not just a case of adding new cameras.

What's so great about auto update? I set off each morning and with 3 taps as I leave my drive, I have the latest database in seconds (long before my TomTom has finished calculating my route). Or I sometimes even do it before I go out, to take advantage of my broadband instead.

I update every day before work (when I remember). I guess that's the issue, that if a user forgets to update inbetween regular updates, then they don't have the latest update!

It means there are 3 less taps and one less thing to worry about.

It's on the 'to do' list along with a couple of other features that the auto-update infrastructure will also allow.

Like giving me a pain in the ear when I'm abroad, not roaming? At this rate of "improvements", I worry about following the TomTom example (the two latest releases have been retrograde for me). Evil or Very Mad

Another vote for autoupdate from me.

I'm in the "update once when opened", would prefer to update changes to db only a limit of once per day wouldn't cause a problem

Auto update gets my vote for registered users, and the constant nagging for non registered users must be a 'good thing' to try to extract their 40p a week from them. Perhaps it could be even longer warning to make subscription even more attractive. There must be quite a few who download the app then don't bother to subscribe. Others on the Google play site seem to be of the opinion that they should get the updates for free Rolling Eyes and the fact that PGPSW charge for the data seems like a completely alien idea.
