Does TomTom know about about the 2012 Olympics in London?

I never go near London, but from what I read there are special Olympic Lanes and turning restrictions in place which may cause some problems for drivers.

Does TomTom know about these restrictions?

Just had a look on the TomTom Traffic website. Doesn't look like it!

EDIT: For your information, details about the Olympic Road Network are here:

In that the ORN restrictions aren't active yet, would you expect them to show up on the TomTom Traffic website?

I believe some came into force yesterday such as the M4 section.

I thought the TomTom Olympics were the five hoops you have to jump through to get past first line support. Very Happy

Correct.

London 2012: M4 Olympic Games Lanes come into operation - BBC News

Nothing new/special showing on TomTom LIVE Traffic Website. Guess it'll just handled like the normal traffic....

There were tailbacks on the M4 of over 32 miles back to the A34 yesterday as the result of this and an accident.

How odd. The page linked a few posts above says the ORN will start "a couple of days before the games open". We are currently ten days away from the opening ceremony.

The Games Lanes are only part of the ORN.

Quote:
There will be 30 miles (50km) of Games Lanes in London, which will form part of the Olympic Route Network (ORN), most of which will come into effect from 25 July - two days before the opening ceremony.

The M4 part has started because the atheletes started to arrive at Heathrow yesterday and the M4 is the fastest (well, most direct) route to the Games

Here is an interactive map shows the Games Lanes and the ORN. If jams get too bad its been confirmed the Games Lanes will be dropped.

Aww... From the topic title, I was looking forward to hearing about a competition!

How about:

TomTom marathon - How long can you run one before it falls over in exhaustion?

TomTom hurdles - How many hoops will you have to jump through to get a map updated?

TomTom fencing - How long before it directs you up a dirt-track with a fence across it?

TomTom shot-putt - How far can you throw it when you've finally had enough?!

Any more?

You know, when Vancouver hosted the Winter Olympics, a journalist for a London paper just criticized every little glitch and basically said to watch how London would do things right.

Well, what with the security debacle, the lost bus drivers, etc., we Canucks are getting the last laugh..........

He must have been the only person in the UK to think we'd do it well then. Laughing

(Even Boris and Cameron always knew we'd make a mess of it really, they just can't say so).

It's a large part of the English charm - that we know we are crap and so we champion the underdog (thinking of the likes of "Eddie the Eagle" here Smile )

Answer, yes and yes. I can't elaborate any more, but they do know about it!
