Help... Just turned on my 720 and all I'v got is a blank screen with a million little colours on it! I pressed the reset button ( only way to turn it off)and when it restarted it gave the TT drum roll, the yellow line moved across the bottom and then just the screen with the colours on it.
Worked perfect yesterday, I've just taken the SD card out and it's just the same.
Advise please, but not to much jargon. |

"a million colours on it" - That's not a common problem, so it MIGHT be a hardware issue.
First question, can you get it to connect to your PC so you the PC sees it as a new "disk drive"?
If it doesn't give you the "Do you want to connect to computer" screen, you may find resetting it while it is connected works to get it recognised. _________________ "Settling in nicely" ;-) |

If no DIY solutions suggested here fix it you could try ringing this repair company for a quote. They get very good reviews from forum members. _________________ Anita

I can connect to home, it will update, i can go onto "operate my go" and look at all the maps etc. but if I leave it on charge ( the batteries had it) it will come up with "no maps found connect to TT home"but when i connect to home it just updates as normal. it never gives the opportunity to install new maps. |

The defunct battery could be your problem. I don't know exactly what happens, but the battery in that state, can lower the voltage to the device causing it to malfunction even with a good power source!
Sorting the battery out may well sort out the problem. _________________ Garmin Drivesmart 50 LMT-D App 5.90

An internal short in the battery could mess up various things, not to mention an overheating risk. _________________ Mike R [aka Wyvern46]

Search for TT battery replacement on You Tube useful videos there/link below.
Enabled me to change mine for a pittance; battery on Amazon/Flee Bay etc.
Just take care removing the battery as video shows will be stuck in and applying gentle heat will loosen up. _________________ Gel

So has the "million colours" fault gone? _________________ "Settling in nicely" ;-) |

Well i took Anita's advise and sent it off for repair, and four days and £30 later I've got it back. It appears it lost it's maps plus soft wear issues? Anyway the problem now is that it has no post code's. It has come back with App 8.398 and v890.42. Now i have installed the post code update before but for the life of me cannot remember how I did it ( instruction please) I seem to think it went into a file called "zip" but I cannot find this folder on my TT. I have looked back at some recent threads and the post code down load seem to attract some concerns, are they now sorted? and can I install them on my devise?.
Thanks. |

The postcodes are linked to from the 1st post here. And I think the instructions are in that thread too. _________________ Jock

Unless you have a Business (formerly 'work') model 720, then the application installed is incorrect. It should be 9.430 for the consumer model.
However, if a specific map is geared to a relevant application, the problem becomes whether the map installed will work with 9.430 installed.
Best you make an Explorer, not Home, backup before doing anything else....... _________________ David |

8.398 was offered for a little while on these but TTHome should now update it to the current 9.430 but only after a full windows backup as dhn has said.
PS All/any 890 maps will run on 9.430 but only a few lesser detailed ones will still run on the older 8.398 |

Well It appears I've solved most of the issues, I've got my post codes back and everything seems to working ok...but... it takes an age to start up, when i turn it on it's just a blank screen, then about 1 minute later the TT logo comes on, then another minute later the start screen comes on and some time after that main screen appears. I'm at present trying to contact the repair company but it's constantly engaged, unless you know a fix?. |

No I don't think it does, I've just managed to get hold of the repair company and he tells me it's the internal memory that is not booting up as fast as it should so it will require a new card? he said another £50!!!!!
By the time I'm finished I could have bought another sat nav. |
