|
|
This is my first post. I'm looking for help in getting my Kenwood DNX7210BT to load the PocketGPSWorld database. I have a clean SD card with the Database loaded using Garmin's POI Loader. When the SD card is inserted into the Kenwood unit, a continuous message is displayed 'reading'.
The file structure setup by the POI Loader is Garmin/POI/pgpsw-speed-cams-J2Po--(10-061).gpi Am I doing something wrong ? Any advice is very much appreciated. |

Many thanks for your prompt response. Unfortunately nothing changed using,
poi.gpi Also tried Garmin/POI/poi.gpi with no change. I'm sure this is the right track but it seems (from reading other forums) various Kenwood models are sensitive to different file names. Any over suggestions very welcome. |

The guide is here - http://www.pocketgpsworld.com/uksafetycameras-kenwood.php
You might need to mess about with the structure.
Start with
x:\garmin\poi.gpi
then
x:\Garmin\poi.gpi (Capital G!!)
x:\garmin\poi\poi.gpi
etc
Even try
x:\poi.gpi (NO Folders) |

Documentation on Kenwood website indicates the DNX7210BT will only use a USB stick for the POIs.
Also the structure has to be
x:\Garmin\Poi\Poi.gpi
The sentance case MAYBE relevant... |

Gentlemen, problem solved, thanks to your useful guidance. I should have read the manual more carefully. USB as an input is the secret. It still required a little fiddling but putting the Kenwood into standby, prior to selecting navigation, seemed to be the final trick. I don't know if the file names are vital but I succeeded with Garmin/POI/Poi.gpi . Hope this helps future Kenwood users. |

PaulB2005 is correct. The USB connection has to be used. Just upgraded to this headunit myself, hope it's as good as the old 7260BT. |
