ALL POI downloads include an Icon.
If you choose Parking alone you will get an Icon of a White P on a Blue background. If you choose to combine Parking and Disabled Parking, then there is a Generic Icon of a Grey vehicle on a White background (the Icon for the general Transport category).
If you are unable to see any Icon at all, then the problem must lay with the POILoader settings, or your Device. _________________ Richard

How many POI catergories are you loading? Ie how many CSV files?
Some Garmin units stop showing POI icons if you load too many.
Also if I recall correctly Garmin units don't show POIs onscreen unless you either route to one or it has an alert setup. They won't show up otherwise. |

Thanks
but think i may have resolved it
when you create poi download and use the "combined sub categories" in step 4 method... the downloaded csv file has ref to icon and name info
(not separate files per category which has only names?)
going to try on next drive

Hope it works for you
However I'll point out now you are the only person so far in years to have reported an issue like this so I suspect there's more to this. I used Garmin units in the past so I know there doesn't have to be a reference to the BMP in the CSV file. The manual for POILOADER makes it clear the BMP and CSV file just need the same name - parking.csv & parking.bmp - then POILOADER does the rest. |

still having problems
traffic cameras working file (icons and alerts)
set up other poi to alert at distance but when in use only alert pops up and no icon plus alerts dont come on at set distance (used about 1&1/2miles 8000ft but warning works at about 1/4mile 1500ft)...is there a limit????
csv files loaded and have about 14 csv files (includes camera ones) and total of say 500 poi per csv file
typical file name etc
Parking_PGPSW.csv
Parking_PGPSW.bmp
all in folder for poi loader to convert
any help appreciated

All I can think of to check is that you definitely have Windows Explorer set to show ALL file extensions.
If not, Windows will show the extensions for file types it doesn't know about (such as the .ov2s possibly) but hides them for ones it does know about (such as the .bmps).
Because of that, it's very easy to end up with icon files with names like Parking_PGPSW.bmp.bmp - which obviously won't work as the filename is now different to the .ov2.
-------------
To get Windows to show you the three letter extensions to the file names, do this:
Start either 'My Computer' or 'Windows Explorer' and:
Go to the 'Tools' Menu,
Select 'Folder Options'
Select the 'View' tab
Scroll down the list of entries and UN-tick "Hide extensions for known file types"
(While you are there, you could also TICK 'Show hidden files and folders" too. While not strictly necessary, this will let you see EVERYTHING on your PC's and TomTom's storage).
The above is for Windows XP, I the process is pretty similar for Vista... _________________ "Settling in nicely" ;-) |
