Hi All,
I am thinking of upgrading my phone to a Samsung Galaxy SIII, looks a bit more snazzier than my very aged but working well XDA Orbit!
Does anyone know if TomTom navigator will work on it, or something like that, perhaps whatever the iPhone uses??
I think its an andriod if that helps!
Thanks,

There isn't an Android TomTom app as yet and who knows if/ when one might be released, the apple software and Windows Mobile software won't work on the S-III - Mike |

Thanks guys,
Just out of interest, what would have been the very latest phone (HTC?) which come preinstalled with TomTom navigator on, and the latest one in therory you could install it on if its not preloaded (legally obviously).
Might have a look on fleabay for something in between for now until the paranoid android wakes up.

No HTC Android phones came with TomTom pre-installed.
Some had a HTC Navigation app which used TomTom maps called 'HTC Locations' but it lacked turn-by-turn navigation. That was an extra cost option. _________________ Darren Griffin |

Ah right, as the thread concerned the Galaxy SIII I assumed you were talking Android.
The last version of TomTom for Windows was ancient! _________________ Darren Griffin |

Sorry Darren, didnt mean to confuse!
My XDA WM6.1 era 2006 is looking a bit battered these days so wanted something a bit snazzier, purely only for effect of course!
One of the must haves is the phone must be able to run Tomtom Navigator, the TTN version is not important.
Seeing as the S3 is android and it wont work thats now out of the question and pointless for me getting that, sorry im not up with the times and what apps work with what phone.
I have seen a few phones on a popular auction site, such as the HTC Touch 2, but I have not a clue which is the latest phone which is able to run TTN as they all look the same to me!
Cheers,

Why not wait a little longer and get a current Android phone? TomTom should be releasing an Android app this summer?
Any phone that will run the ancient TTN for WM isn't really worth having now. _________________ Darren Griffin |

Must agree but only from a cost point of view, although running both ancient and modern I still pick up TTn7 first on my trusty Asus and as of yet rarely lets me down until yesterday on a relatively new estate, ttn7 is so simple and easy to use with well laid out menus and the route overlay as well are both far better than the Android Sygic Aura plus faster on a slower processor than the androids, I for one would look forward to an Android tomtom but hopefully it will not be a crippled cut down version lacking the charms of the TTn6/7 versions _________________ Moto G5s Plus, Sygic 17.4.8 |

As TT is coming to Android is there already a way or will there be a way to put the weekly update of camera alerts on an Android unit?
Reason fro the question is I am now thinking of going down the Android route. |

Our CamerAlert App for Android has been available for over a year now. See www.cameralert.com for details and links. _________________ Darren Griffin |

Hi Darren, Currently running an iPhone and using Camera Alert there but didn't put my point across correctly.
What I meant was is there a way of using the PGPS database as Mike's done for the iPhone on an Android unit? |

The TT Android app doesn't yet formally support custom POI files.
You can load them into the map folder, and they will be usable as destinations and will show on the map.
However, without formal UI support, you cannot configure a POI proximity alert, so the usefulness of a speedcam POI will be limited. |
