Some of you may know that a new section of A46 was added between Widmerpool and Newark, this opened early Feb to traffic along the whole section. I’ve just downloaded the latest map to my 750Live and the new road does not show – WHY, WHERE IS IT It has been showing on Google maps for about two months, so why not TomTom maps?
Got to say I am losing faith in TomTom!! _________________ TomTom GO720 and TomTom GO750

TomTom are not noted for their quick updating of new roads etc..
Whilst living in the south of France, there was an area which had quite a few roads built. I reported it for nearly 3 years, before it was incorporated.
In more recent times it took nearly 2 years to get the M10 changed from motorway status to dual carriageway and renamed to the A414.
The last major change, in France, took about 9 months!
6 months ago I reported a missing link road at Alexandra Palace. Fixed on this map!
See a pattern emerging here?
The best method I've found, is to use the TeleAtlas Map Insight website on any map feature that has changed, as soon as I'm aware of it. This seems to start the ball rolling.

Tomtom say they have a 9 month lead in time for map changes. _________________ Mike R [aka Wyvern46]

The A46 is a mile or so from the A46 - is this correct?

Yep Richard, looking at the Newark end (near the village of Farndon) the A46 is about a mile away from the A46. The thing is it does not show that on my version of the tom tom map - very strange..... _________________ TomTom GO720 and TomTom GO750

Nor mine!
What map do you have, Michael? I see Oldboy has the W&C-Europe map while I only have UK&ROI. I would have expected the UK mapping to be the same on both, but maybe not? _________________ Anita

You mentioned Widmerpool in your OP, and this has led to some confusion. I didn't look South of Newark.
At Farndon my 890 map is also incorrect. _________________ Richard

I'm not defending them but I understand that new and updated roads have to be seriously worked on to include all the required metadata before they can be included.
This allows the software to interrogate it properly when calculating routes.
I understand this is not that quick a task and why it takes a while for some roads to be shown. _________________ DashCam:

It's not like this is a small road update, the work has been going on a long time and the new route is known. The major A1 update appeared on the map before the work was completed. |

to
52.899894, -1.022243
If you look on Google maps between those 2 points you can clearly see the old road and the new. What was rally annoying the other day is because the new road isn't on the map Traffic didn't show the 3 mile queue at the Newark end! |

Thank you for all the replies.
Just a quick update, I’ve started a ‘Question’ with TomTom, I’ll post any updates from them. They are currently asking for the system details from Home – a standard first request I guess. _________________ TomTom GO720 and TomTom GO750
