|
|
I know from the Ice Cream Sandwich thread that MaFt is working on getting the spoken alerts working properly through the phone with the Ford Bluetooth connected, but I believe the Bluetooth connection is causing CamerAlert to crash.
Here's my set up:
Stock Android 4.03 - XWLP7 - Rooted
CamerAlert - Latest Version
CoPilot Live Premium
Ford Mondeo (11 Plate) Bluetooth - connection option is not selected to use as media device. I have the Sony DAB single CD stereo, if that makes any difference?
As I'd been having crashes with CamerAlert, I decided to re-build my phone from scratch and then do some testing. I can't be 100% sure at the moment, but I believe the culprit is the Ford bluetooth connection. Here's how I've tested:
CamerAlert on without CoPilot, without Bluetooth connected - No crashes and spoke alerts via phone
CamerAlert on with CoPilot, without Bluetooth connected - No crashes and spoke alerts via phone
CamerAlert on with CoPilot, with Bluetooth connected - Crashes within a couple of minutes of connection. No spoken CamerAlert messages, but CoPilot OK
CamerAlert on without CoPilot, with Bluetooth connected - testing this afternoon
CoPilot works on it's own, with spoken directions from the phone speaker without any problems, bluetooth connected or not. _________________ LG G4, Google Nexus 9, Garmin Oregon 600T |

The version of CamerAlert that you are using does not yet support Bluetooth SCO (headset/handsfree) profile. CamerAlert doesn't know how to pipe sound through to your head unit.
We are working on an update for that. It looks promising but will likely not cover all devices and head unit combinations. Since your CoPilot already works through Bluetooth handsfree you may be one of the luckier ones. Stay tuned. _________________ Lutz

Hi Lutz,
CoPilot doesn't work via the bluetooth connection. I had to turn the option to use as media device off to get the spoken directions out of the phone. Does this explain why CamerAlert crashes though, given I turned that option off? _________________ LG G4, Google Nexus 9, Garmin Oregon 600T |

So CoPilot always comes out of the phone speaker? You can do the same in CamerAlert if you want. _________________ Lutz

Hi Lutz,
Yes, CoPilot directions come out of the phone speaker. Despite enabling the option to force CamerAlert to do the same, I get nothing out of the phone when the Ford Bluetooth is connected. _________________ LG G4, Google Nexus 9, Garmin Oregon 600T |

Interesting observation. Some would call that a logic issue. I am still trying to find more favorable weasel wording for it. _________________ Lutz

Yes, I already have the latest firmware version installed, so it isn't that. _________________ LG G4, Google Nexus 9, Garmin Oregon 600T |

Hi Travish - I've just got a Mondeo (61 plate) with same Radio/CD/Bluetooth as you. I'm really frustrated as I can't have IGO on my Android phone (loaded with PGPSW database of course) to speak to me if I have bluetooth on for telephone calls and radio on! It always tries to route voice through bluetooth media even though I untick the media box in the phone's bluetooth setting for the paired 'Ford Audio'. It just keeps ticking itself again!
I have Copilot so am interested that you say this works through the phone's speaker rather than over bluetooth. However, you also say that the Bluetooth connection option is not selected to use as media device. How do you do that? I can't find any way into the Ford's bluetooth set up other than searching and pairing. I'd really appreciate a guide to how you did your set up, as you have exactly what I despearately need to make my travelling enjoyable and safe.
Thanks |
